Question: Is it okay for a vegan to sit on leather seats!?
not buy them, obviously, but if you're going on a road trip with friends and the car has leather seats, would it be okay to sit on them, or not!? and if not what should you do instead!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Of course!. Vegans have to work in offices, rent cars, fly on planes!.!.!.all of which may have leather upholstery!. It's about doing WHAT YOU CAN, not about restricting your life!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

lol it's fine to sit on them!.
You aren't buying it!.
It's petty to bring a pillow so you're not in complete contact with it, you're still sitting on it!.
It's okay to sit on it because you're not increasing the demand for them, If you were buying it, then it would be!.
Like lots of people like leather sofas, they are in "demand" and that is why people sell them!.
it's like restaurants, if more people were veggie, then more food there would be veggie!. Restaurants get in what they need, or what is in demand!.
And also you can't give it back it's life, but if you don't buy it someone else will have to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you go to that point, you may as well ask should vegans look at roses, since they are typically grown with bone meal and manure!. Some vegans will not use manure in gardens as it is, and further restrict their diet to foods grown without any pesticides at all!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's alright!. Don't go overboard about being vegan!. There are some things you just can't help!. Don't worry about it and have fun on your road trip!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sit on a pillow,,,the leather can seep into your pores!Www@FoodAQ@Com

No it's not ok to do this!. You should run behind the carWww@FoodAQ@Com

NO!!! you its not right for a vegan to sit on leather seats they r made out of the things you loveWww@FoodAQ@Com

they made it already!. you cant do anything!. so i think its fine to sit on leather seats!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!! As long as you are not naked and have flesh to leather contact!. If you are truly concerned, bring a cloth pillow, under the pretext of being comfortable!. Will take all of the worry out off the sitting on leather seats and you will have the extra comfort of the pillow!. I always ride with a cushion and have several for anybody who rides with me!. have a safe trip and enjoy!!! TaggerWww@FoodAQ@Com

YES, just sit on the seat!

You didn't buy the seat!. The profit off of the animal hide was made long ago, probably even before the car was assembled, as part of some deal between the car company and a supplier!.

If the profit has already been made off of the leather, you sitting on it does not in any way exploit the animal any longer, or put money in the pockets of the leather industry!. It's long dead and gone, and it would be a bigger waste to not put it to use now that the damage is done!.

What your friends buy and do with their money is their business, and if you're not financing it or encouraging it, you really don't have any hand in it!. Unlike eating non-vegan food that your friends might buy, in which they would buy excess food to feed you, this is a constant amount of leather in their car!. Whether you sit in it or not, it lasts for years and it won't go anywhere!. If they buy you non-vegan food and you feel guilty and eat it, though, you're directly supporting further exploitation of animals, since that puts just that little bit more strain on the supply and demand of animal products!.

There's not much of a choice here, either - there's animal products everywhere, bone and animal fat in everything from cement to rubber rings in our showers, and you can't escape it!. You control what you put inside of yourself and what you purchase, but you can hardly expect your friends to refurnish a car they bought (probably long ago) to accomodate you, especially if you're not even going against vegan principles!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
