I want to become vegetarian but don't think I can?!
I'm really passionate about animal rights, and by eating meat it feels like I'm supporting it but If I didn't eat meat I'm not sure what I would eat because I eat hardly any vegetables and fruit, also , my family eats meat and idk what I'd do about dinner, what can I do!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can do it!. I've been strict vegan for 8 years, and I started when I was 19!. I was, and still am, the only person with these feelings in my entire extended family, and also the only person who doesn't drink alcohol, or caffeinated drinks, or smoke, and since I used to do all these things and had a strong connection with my family because of it being something we could do together and bond over how nice it is, when I gave up I lost that connection and now everyone calls me a hippie freak but my principles are stronger than that and over time people have gotten used to the idea and given up trying to change me back!. I feel a lot healthier now, I haven't funded or supported the murder and slaughter of any organism in a long time which makes me feel very egalitarian, compassionate and wholly human, I'm always smiling and happy now compared with my very depressed years eating meat, I'm really doing the right thing for the environment, with this climate change and global warming thing we see in the news, and I get asked all the time how I keep up my protein levels and I say the average person gets over 400% of their recommended dietary intake (RDI) of protein, and I get more than I need from nuts, seeds, legumes, and beans, mostly soybeans made into things like tofu, yogurt, icecream, chocolate, etc!. which taste better than the animal equivalents, and don't leave a glob of fatty mucus in your throat when your finished (among other disgusting side effects of eating meat I no longer experience)!. Over time you will learn to love the crispy taste and nourishing vitamin flavour of fresh fruit and vegetables, but till then there are thousands of vegetarian foods that imitate the foods you're used to: juicy vegetarian shrimp, prawn, mutton, just about anything you can imagine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You might have to stop and think if you are "really passionate about animal rights"
saying it doesn't make it actually true!.
you need to KILL an animal to eat it, where in that process is there any animal rights !?
Think about whats important and go with that!. but i doubt you should continue claiming you are passionate about something when you don't seen to translate it to actions!.
being a veggie is easy, its hardly any effort, surely if you are passionate about a cause you wouldn't mind just a little effort, would you !?
You are right to feel you are not practising what you preach, thats exactly right!.
Go on, go veggie, there is nothing stopping you other that a tiny effort!.
if you really want to consider going veggie, look up young persons veggie sites such as http://www!.youngveggie!.org, they will give you lots of ideasWww@FoodAQ@Com

You can support animal rights and still eat meat!. You can eat only free range, organic meats and meat products, as well as meat that is ethically butchered!. I realize that if you think killing an animal is wrong, then this isn't the way for you, but it IS possible to kill an animal humanely and painlessly!. That is what I do, I only eat meat products that I know I know exactly where they are raised and slaughtered!. I'm lucky that in my area I can visit the ranch where my meat and animal products come from, and I know they are raised in the wide open spaces, and die humanely!.
Help you family see that it is possible to still eat meat and be ethical!. Show them the benefits of eating organic and supporting local, ethical farmers!. I'm sure they'll thank you in the long run!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

My best answer is only that if you do become a vegetarian, yu should probably eat more fuits and vegetables, but they're not strongly required to maintain good health!. Try tofu, quinoa, tempeh, and other soy-based and meat alternatives!. Your family will surely understand if you decided to stop eating animals!. It may take a while, but they'll understand!. Good luck, congratulations, and I pray for the best for you!. :]Www@FoodAQ@Com

My daughter's name is Scarlett!
Anyways!.!.!.!.!.
I feel that it is ok to eat meat that was raised humanely!. The only problem is, there isn't very much of it in the market, and when you do find it, it's too expensive!. I often find myself thinking, 'Well, I can buy one humanely raised chicken for $18, and know that no animal suffered on my behalf, OR, I can buy a regular $6 chicken, donate $12 to the world food program, and know that people weren't starving to death because I decided to buy the 'kinder' option of chicken!.
In general, I try to eat LESS meat!. If people in developed countries would stop expecting meat at every meal, then we would not have factory livestock farms, and we wouldn't have to feel guilty about biting into our delicious steaks!. My goal is to only consume four servings of meat per week!.
And I support animal rights in many ways-by giving my time to valuable causes, such as protesting Ringling Bros!.Circus when they come to town-Elephant's and other 'performing'animals are horribly abused by the circus!. I also VOTE for positive changes in humane livestock laws-and here in CA, we just passed a great one!.
Make yourself heard, by politicians, cooperations, etc!., that factory farming processes need to change and be done ethically and humanely!. But don't feel like a hypocrite because you continue to eat meat before the changes come through-you have canine teeth for a reason, you're supposed to be an omnivore!. Don't feel guilty for feeding yourselfWww@FoodAQ@Com

there is a subsitute food for pretty much any food or meat imaginable!.
there are veggie burger, vegie chicken sandwitches, veggie ground beef ( which can be used in pasta sause), veggie sausage, veggie bacon, veggie lunch meat, veggie lasiguna, veggie grilled chicken, etc!.
and its all very good!
it might not taste exactly like what your used to but after a while, it grows on you!. and its makes you feel better knowing that by eating a subsitute food, you saved an animal!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yeah, I understand what you mean, because I love animals just as much!. But unfortunately I cannot stop eating meat!. I just love it too much!. My family basically only eats meat!. I don't only eat meat, but I like to have a steak every couple of months, and I love eating a hamburger here and there!. I just try not to think about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Wow!. I could've written this question myself!. I tried going veg overnight and that was a bust!. Now I'm doing it quite slowly, which I figure is better than nothing!. Anytime I brought up the idea my mom would laugh at me because I "don't like vegetables!."
I figure it'll just take time for my preferences to change!. Right now I've stopped eating red meat and will take the next step once I'm ready!.
I've donated to WSPA for almost ten years!. I'm enrolling in an animal care course in the *hopes* of working with the WSPA or SPCA, WWF, something along those lines!. This is especially why eating meat would seem to hypocritical to me!.
Good luck!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use the computer to research vegetarian diet instead of whining on YA about how hard it is!. If you were really committed to animal rights you'd have thought of that yourself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
become a veggie! support animal rights! there are plenty of other foods for veggie's to eat than veggies, these are mainly protein foods such as tofu, veggie sausages, not bacon, veggie burgers!.
