If you've got fresh figs, I would recommend them with any of the following:
Balsamic vinegar/glaze
Prosciutto
Fresh goat's cheese
Good quality olive oil
Honey

the fabulous fresh fig
has made me a pig
a summertime treat
so succulent and sweet
that is eaten so neatly
and devoured completely
'cause no pits will be found
nor core to bite 'round
so gorge just like pigs
on fabulous fresh figs
but remember to share
with birds who are scared
of snakes in the trees
eating all birds they see
and you also must share
with wasps so beware
and even with bear
but that would be rare
they're easy to grow
there's little to know
cut a twig from the neighbor's
and with minimal labor
stick the twig in the ground
and water it down
it will soon make roots
growing green shoots
then wait a few years
after which you will cheer
as you eat fresh fig fruit
grown from your own shoot
you'll know what i mean
as you wipe your mouth clean
that the fabulous fig
has made you a pigWww@FoodAQ@Com

My favorite way is to eat them fresh, split into quarters, but not cut all the way through, just cut enough to make a little pocket!. Then I put a piece of blue cheese inside!. It's delicious! You can eat practically the whole thing, if there is a tiny hard part on the top of the stem, it won't hurt to eat it but I usually don't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
For me, fresh poached in wine as part of a main course or dessert or just plain dried!. Haven't tried eating the pit so can't tell you about that!.
Be warned though that figs often have insect eggs in them!. there is a certain type of wasp that uses figs specifically to lay their eggs!. And it's very difficult to tell which ones have the eggs and which ones don't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
