How do i begin my vegetarianism? i'm picky!?!

Question: How do i begin my vegetarianism!? i'm picky!!?
i'm 17 and i have no problem giving up meat or fish, but i'm a ridiculously picky eater!.!.!.even if i didn't give up meat my eating habits are unhealthy!.!.!.so i'm wondering how i get myself accustomed to eating a lot of foods that i haven't eaten with any frequency for a while (most vegetables)!. obviously i just need to start eating them, but are there any ways to make the transition a little less of a shock to my digestive system!.!.!.and taste buds!?

also, i'm like seriously just starting out so can anyone give me like the basics (foods to not eat and some that become staples!?)!.!.!.!.i'm planning on not consuming any dairy or eggs either!. i want to eventually become vegan!. my concern is for my health!.!.!.odd, i know!. but i never eat vegetables or legumes so can you give me some starter foods because i need to be able to eat something!.

in case you're wondering what i do eat, since i was like 12 i've pretty much been on a steady diet of fruit, processed starches, and dairy!.!.!.!.and occasionally meat!. (i'm aware this is a horrible diet)

(sorry this is so long!) i've already cut out the meat and eggs, but i'm a little shakey on how to cut out the dairy!.!.!.milk, butter, and cheese are out!.!.!. is bread ok!? are smoothies!? or do most use milk!? etc!.

please help me help the animals!!! haha, i don't want to be picky anymore!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Bread=starches!.

You need vegetables!. Start with blander vegetables!.!.!.carrot sticks, iceberg lettuce, etc!.

For proteins, beans are inoffensive and tasty!.

Here's an article on the same issue: http://hellomrnarwhal!.blogspot!.com/2008/!.!.!.

also, there's this book called the "Meat and Potatoes Vegetarian Cookbook" out there somewhere!.!.!.it's supposed to be recipes that are simple and tasty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

hi!. i've been vegetarian most of my life but there are certainly ways to help make the transition easier!. it's great you want to give up everything in one go, but it might be better to do some things gradually!. for instance, you can still eat cheese but start having vegetarian cheese ('rennet free' or 'animal rennet')!. most smoothies use dairy unless you ask for soy!. also, the soy milk you use makes a difference!. make sure you get one made from soy beans, not soy protein!. bonsoy is expensive but really delicious!. past is a good interim food!. you can make a really yummy tomato sauce with lots of vegetable, olives, capers, chilli as a starter!. you can also try tempeh!. that's made from soy beans and available at most supermarkets and health food shops!. if you marinate it first (in whatever you like, soya sauce, ginger, olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper!.!.!.!. experiment) then it's extra yummy!. fry it up and have it with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli with olive oil and salt and pepper!. really tasty! good luck!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I just started like a little over a week ago and I am an extremely picky eater as well!. I got this website off of a commercial and it helped me get started!. Things I would not normally eat I do now because of the recipes on this site made it taste better!.

This website helped me out a great deal:
http://www!.goveg!.com/

also when I started I cut out all meats except for chicken to help my transition move more smoothy!. Cutting everything out cold turkey is very hard especially when your so accustom to eating meat!. I would suggest doing that and then as you continue just slowly eat less and less meat as you start to try new things that would give you protein!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

im 16 and a vegetarian!. ive tried being vegan but i love cheese and ice cream too much!. anyways i recommend slowly day by day minimizing your dairy intake and replacing it with other substitues!. it depends on what time of day you have most of your dairy products, usually its the morning!. so for like breakfast try oatmeal and fruit with some non-dairy yogurt, it makes an awesome breakfast!.

drink some soy milk if you like the taste, i was picky about this one at first because i never drank milk period but i was surprised to like it!.

for snacks try eating any type of nuts (excluding cashews because they are fattening) like almonds and walnuts they are full of protein and carbs to get you through the day!.

on regards to vegetables, everyone needs them, especially growing teenagers!. but like most humans that green leafy texture and boring taste just doesnt taste that appealing!. however carrots i find can be really yummy when cooked into a stir-fry with all sort of bell peppers and sauce!. it makes a yummy tortilla!. steamed brocolli with melted parmasan cheese and pepper is good for starting out before you become vegan to get used to the taste!. green beans are absolutly amazing steamed with pepper and salt!. of course the usual celery with peanut butter is always full of protein and has virtually no calories!.

some veggies you want to stay away from is potatoes, they are basically pure starch and full of what i like to call "empty calories," they just don't fill you up at the cost of your calorie intake!.

beans are full of protein, especially kidney and lima!. i know they sound nasty but put into a shell with some flavored bell peppers and rice its the nearest thing to heaven!.

bread is another tricky one!. they have a lot of calories and always seem to make you still hungry!. but logically if you maintain a healthy lifestyle complete with exercise a sandwhich or two can't hurt!. however, stay away from bagels they have up to 5 pieces of bread per serving!. yuck! in replacement of bread you could try rice cakes, they are really good snacks with peanute butter and have very few calories!. pasta is okay on a small scale, for dinner, but too much starch is never good for you!.

good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use Boca burgers and you can make a hamburger wrap with cut up boca burgers using lettuce, tomato, tortilla shell, mustard, and pickle!. They also make artificial chicken patties!. You can use them on sandwiches, or you can cut them up and put them on salads!. Make sure to check the labels on dressing bottles because there are a few that use dairy products!. The best answer is just be creative with your veggies and fruits!. Make sure that you get plenty of beans for protein!. I use beans for a south west salad!. I use lettuce, tomato/Pico de gallo, refried beans or black beans, olives, and tortilla chips!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I just decided I wanted to do this too and I'm 17 (I read Skinny *****)!. And I was going to go completely vegan but I realized it is really hard to find good food without any milk product, eggs, butter or cheese in them!.

So what I decided to do is not drink glasses of milk or eat cheese by themselves!. That way I can still have cake or things that use milk and or cheese in them!. I just won't drink plain milk or eat a block of cheese and that'll help you a lot!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most people who are vegan or veg usually have some sort of god complex to being with!. They do it to be different and to have a label, usually because they have average or below average qualities of things that our society normally labels as being important!. ie; good looks, athletic, etc!.

So they do it so they can stick their nose up at someone because then they can finally be "better" at something!. Vegans and Vegetarians are just a bunch of rejects seeking approval among other rejects because they couldn't get the approval they desire from us normal people!.

Humans matter!.!.!.!.!.animals do not!. To care about the feelings and well being of!.!.!.!.!.food!.!.!.!.is a distortion that cheapens the value of human life!. It puts the life and well being of your child, your sibling, your parent, you neighbor, on the same level as the steak on your plate!.

That's not just immoral!.!.!.!.it's sick!.

And it basically is the point of vegetarianism!. That's why the nazis and the communists were such staunch supporters of vegetarianism!.!.!.!.!.they were attempting to manipulate people into the view that human life is worth no more than an animals!.

Today's liberals are no different!. When the leftist freakazoids tell you vegetarianism is the way to go, you should ask yourself why!? What is it they are trying to accomplish!. If you look closely at the pattern of their behavior!.!.!.!.it's no different than those of the nazis and the communists!. They show disdain and hatred for human life on almost all levels!. There is an evil agenda behind their seeming good intentions!.

Romans 14: 1-2

1: Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters!.
2: One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
