Answers:
Great question and great bumper sticker!. I have one too!. By the way I think the vegans feed their cats tofu!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cats need meat in their diet and people do not!. "A lot" of vegetarians own cats is a bit of a generalization!. also, an animals diet has nothing to do with their owners!. Even vegetarians recognize that some animals actually were made to eat meat and must have it(unlike humans)!. I wouldn't deprive an animal of a healthy diet, b/c I am opposed to eating meat!.

I have four ferrets(like cats they are strictly carnivores, they must have meat)!. I got them before going vegetarian, and I certainly wasn't going to get rid of them and be irresponsible just b/c I don't eat meat anymore!. Everyone that takes an animal into their home is making a commitment to give them the best care possible!. I don't like the fact that I have to buy food with meat in it for my ferrets, but I recognize the fact that I have to care for them the best way possible!.

I love listening to people judge others actions(and I'm not saying you are), b/c it is far easier to judge and criticize what other people do, than to look at your own faults!. "It's horrible that vegetarians have cats", but at least they are doing something for a cause they believe in!. Doing something, is always better than nothing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

1!. "A lot of vegetarians have cats" is a huge generalization!.

2!. Human beings are capable of rational thought and decision making which separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom, cats included!. We can decide whether or not to eat meat!.

3!. Humans can THRIVE on a plant-based diet whereas cats cannot!.

4!. Not all vegetarians exclude meat from their diet to "save the animals!." A lot of us do it for health reasons in which case it is not hypocritical to own a cat!.

5!. What about all the people who are protective over their dogs and cats but don't think twice about chowing down on cow or pig flesh, two animals that are equally as intelligent and sentient as canines and felines!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

COMMON SENSEWww@FoodAQ@Com

Well, cats NEED to eat meat!. It's just the way that their bodies are designed!. People who go vegetarian do it for themselves, meaning that they feel that they can live their lives without eating meat and still living a healthy life!. Cats can't live a healthy life without meat, and most (smart) vegetarians know this and take good care of their cats!. Humans can make the choice to be vegetarian, whereas cats, who are carnivorous, cannot!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm a vegan for health who rescues cats and has his own!.
Vegetation - Good for me, great for every organ, bone, muscle, in my body!. Does nothing for a cat, can barely digest it, certain caretoids can build up and poison them!.
Meat - Great for my cats, their perfect food!. Has vitamins and amino acids in the right amount for their way of life!. For me!? Makes me sick, encourages cancer growth, steals calcium from my bones, hurts my organs in general!.

also, I don't purchase cats, I save them from a life or death on the streets often they're riddles with worms and are in desperate need of being fed, we also vaccinated, micro chip and desex them before selling them to their new owners!.
So we (the organization) are helping keep animal control levels down whilst making a cat and a person happy for life!.

There is no hypocrisy there!.

ADD: I've just got to say!.!.!. Vegetarian/vegan dog food and cat food that is pre packaged is just wrong!.
It's all grains (something that is SUPER hard to digest for a dog and almost impossible for a cat) that is sprayed with artificial vitamins, minerals, proteins and fats!.
It's feeding death to your animal!.
If you're going to feed your dog vegan make the food yourself and become educated, it's the only way to do it!.
And if you're going to feed your cat vegan from home!.!.!. Call me when you're at the vet due to your cat going blind, having seizures, super constipated, developed type 1 diabetes and has died of heart failure (dilated cardiomyopathy)!.

ADD: Take a look at the cat food you see on the site "S" provided!.
Two things major come to mind for me!.
1!. This statement at the top: Please note: We at Pangea are not experts on cat nutrition, so we can`t guarantee that this product is suitable as the sole food source for cats!.
ALWAYS a good sign!.

2!. The ingredient list, keep in mind ingredients go from most to least!.
Ingredients: Oat groats, corn gluten meal, soybean meal, soybean oil, carrots, dried tomato pomace, dried potato product, dehydrated beet molasses, dicalcium phosophate, potassium chloride, calcium carbonate, salt, synthetic taurine, nutritional yeast, arginine, DL-methionine, enzyme bromelain from pineapple stem and fruit, enzyme papain from papaya, dried lactobacillus acidophilus, fermentation products, dried bifidobacterium bifidum fermentation products, lysine, garlic, choline chloride, zinc oxide, ferrous sulfate, vitamin A acetate, vitamin D2 supplement, vitamin E supplement, niacin, ascorbic acid, calcium pantothenate, manganous oxide, vitamin B12 supplement, thiamin mononitrate, kelp meal, menadione sodium bisulfite complex, folic acid, riboflavin supplement (B2), inositol, biotin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, calcium ioadate, sodium selenite, zinc methionine complex, copper lysine complex, manganese, methionine complex arachidonic acid, cobalt glucoheptonate!.

So, I see a whole lot of nasty grains and meals, particularly corn and soybean, notorious for causing allergies in cats as well as lots of artificial chemicals for vitamin; protein and mineral content!.

ADD: Did I mention it's dry!?!? Dry cat food is the WORST thing to feed a cat!. They are desert animals and as such have a very low thirst drive and attain most of their moisture from their food; a cat fed a dry or primarily dry diet runs a risk of being chronically dehydrated as well as developing UTI's among other things!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegan in the process of going raw (about 95% at the moment) who feeds all of his cats a raw (I don't feed from a can unless desperate), species appropriate (no beef here, poultry, rodents and small wild fish, things the cat would get in the wild) diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

because being a vegetarian is for individual reasons!. I doubt I have the same reasons as you do!. For me it is about doing what I can to help animals!. And rescuing my cat from a shelter life, was also doing my part!. Why should I or anyone impose beliefs on animals, whom are not capable of comprehending morals or ethics or beleifs!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have a cat, and so does my mom, and both my parents each have a dog!. They eat food with meat extracts and all that fun stuff!.

Humans have the ability to survive without meat!.

Animals do not!.

Simple as that-- it's all about your body's ability!. Humans can do it and animals just can't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cats are carnivores!. It is natural for cats to eat meat, so of course I would feed my cat food with meat in it!.

Humans are herbivores who have adapted to omnivores!. You don't see humans chasing other animals, tearing their skin apart with their claws, and then eating them raw, do you!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Haven't you ever heard of vegetarian dog and cat food!? And, my dog or cat consuming meat has nothing to do with me consuming it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

People can make a conscious decision to be a vegetarian, cats really can't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

But, I don't have a catWww@FoodAQ@Com
