What are some good alternatives to cow's milk and soy milk?!

Question: What are some good alternatives to cow's milk and soy milk!?
I used to drink organic skim milk but I'm trying to push myself away from dairy products as much as possible, and I don't like the way soy milk tastes plus with new research it's been said that there can be a lot wrong with it and might cause cancer!.

I've heard about coconut milk and hemp milk, would these be ok to drink (also eat with cereal)!? What are some other ones!? How do these taste!? Thanks in advance for your answers! :)

And by the way, I'm vegetarian, not vegan (because I can't be due to allergies) so I don't want anything about how dairy is bad for you!. Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Rice milk, almond milk and hemp milk (which you already mentioned) are pretty easy to find these days!. You'll also occasionally come across oat milk (the brand I see most is Oat Dream from the same people who make Soy/Rice Dream)!.

Rice milk is sweeter than cow's milk or soy milk!. It's like drinking liquid rice pudding!. The texture is light and more watery than soy milk!.

I couldn't tell you what almond milk tastes like since almonds make me horribly nauseous and I hate nuts in general!.

I have hemp milk in my pantry waiting to be tried once I'm out of soy milk, so I can't say yet what it tastes like to me!. I've heard from others that it's slightly nutty and thicker in texture than the other "milks" and cow milk!.

Coconut milk isn't something that most people will use as a replacement for cow's milk because it's high in fat and has a thicker texture!. It tastes like coconut (obviously)!. It's sweet, thick and creamy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cashew Milk: 1/2cup raw cashew pieces, 2cups of water, 1 tablespoon maple syrup!. Blend cashews with 1 cup of water and sweetener on high to form a heavy cream!. Slowly add remaining water and blend on high for 2-5 minutes!.

Almond Milk:
1 cup soaked raw almonds (soaked 4-8 hrs)
4 cups filtered water
pinch of sea salt
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
3 Tablespoons maple syrup (or 3 soft pitted dates)
Blend almonds, water & salt at medium, then high!.
Strain and add vanilla & sweetener!.

Rice Milk:
1/2 cup brown rice
8 cups water
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup more cold water
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

If you are concerned with your weight, the rice milk is the best choice!. Both nut milks are high in fat, but they taste great!Www@FoodAQ@Com

My vegan friend drinks hazelnut milk and I've also heard of oat milk being a good alternative!. I would give soya milk another try though!. It takes a bit of getting used to especially if you're expecting it to taste like cows milk!. You can buy it sweetened or unsweetened as well so you might prefer one over the other!. It won't cause cancer, don't know where you found that information but honestly, don't believe everything you hear!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't worry about the hormones in soy; the ones in cows' milk are far more potent!. Soy doesn't cause cancer!.

But if you don't want soy milk, that's fine!. Almond milk and rice milk are both good substitutes!. I find them rather thin for my purposes, but if you're used to skim milk, they might work!. I tried hemp milk and found it utterly nasty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Rice Milk is good :D
Plus coconut milk probably isn't good in cereal it is not meant for that, because it is sweet!.
I have never heard of Hemp milk but you could try it(:
