If you don't eat meat are nuts okay to have daily?!

Question: If you don't eat meat are nuts okay to have daily!?
I'm kind of on a diet, for health reasons, my stomach is a mess and you have to eliminate sugar, starches, ect!. At the same time I'm also trying to go vegetarian, and hopefully lose a little weight, nothing big, 5 pounds tops!.

Anyway I hear that nuts make you gain weight ect!. But can you eat them daily if you're not eating meat!? I have toast once in a while and yogurt, otherwise it's all fruits and veggies and I feel like I need something more substanial, but if nuts are going to make me gain weight well then that defeats purpose!. Anyway any vegetarian advice!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Nuts, especially almonds & walnuts, are very healthy for you but stick to the recommended servings as they are high in fat too!. But, a daily serving size (1 oz) won't hurt you!. Go for the raw nuts!.!.!.not the salted, processed nuts which defeat the purpose of being healthy as they are processed in oils and only add unnecessary fats & salts to your diet!.

If you are eating lots of veggies, adding a few walnuts halves to your salads to make them more interesting!. Or slivered blanched almonds on top of your green beans can make a dish seem more substantial!.

Depending what type of vegetarian you want to be, eating an egg will also provide a good protein source!.

But, as has been said before, beans, all kinds are a great source of protein!.!.!.and they help keep you full longer too!. Lentils are the easiest to cook up!.!.!.and can even be added to soups or spaghetti sauces or vegetarian curries!. Nothing fills you up better than beans or legumes!. They are great balancing blood sugars!.

Beans can be pureed with garlic or other herbs & spices turning them into spreads or dips for a raw veggies!. No matter how you fix them, beans will fill you up!.

Another protein option to jazz up a vegetarian diet!.!.!. mushrooms!. So many types and varieties and recipe options!. But a giant grilled portabella mushroom often can sub for meat on a dinner plate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I eat nuts all the time: cashews, pecans, walnuts!.!.!.BUT THEY ARE FATTENING, too!! Because of the calories!.!.there is a high amount of natural fat in them if you check the nutrition content!. However, you could have a healthy dose of nuts if you don't eat too much for weight reasons!. I would eat lots of beans, though if you're not eating meat!. Because you need protein, LOTS!. Try to eat the fake meat stuff, too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Definitely! They're so good for you, rich in protein and good fats! Just don't get the ones coated in honey or sugar because then they aren't very nutritious!. The key to eating nuts is just do it in moderation!. Just a handful is enough for a serving each day!. If you can afford them, raw nuts are the best!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Nuts are only fattening if you eat too much other food, then snack on nuts in addition to your normal big meals!.

Nuts are very healthy and would be a great addition to a diet high in fruits and veggies!. Natural peanut butter is a good choice as well!. Smear some on your toast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Nuts are good in moderation, but they are not the only veggie protein!. For protein you can eat: beans, peas, nuts, seeds, and whole grains!. The yogurt your eating is high in protein!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

nuts are very good for you, you should eat as much as you can get!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

nuts are good, yes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

almonds and walnuts are high in proteinWww@FoodAQ@Com

eat beans too! they are great protien!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't go too hard on the nuts especially if you are trying to lose some pounds!. Nuts are great, but it is not a good idea to go overboard, no more than a handful if you eat them daily!. I only recommend eating them no more than once or twice a week and in small amounts with other foods!. You can get your fats other ways like avocados etc!. Only if you are raw vegan is when you could get away with maybe eating a little more nuts, but as just a vegetarian you are still comsuming diary and there is a lot of fat in that already!.

Just up your exercise and let go of all the processed food choices or at least limit them!. Processed food isn't jsut a mircowave meal, it's pasta, cheese, ect, anything with additives or refined!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
