My boyfriend, vegetarianisam?!

Question: My boyfriend, vegetarianisam!?
The other day i camly, and curiously asked why he likes meat!. He just respoded "i love the flavor, i NEED it" ok i accepted his answer!. And ever since i have known him (5 years now) he has told me that he is against animal testing, and that he feels bad for animals that go through all the crap!. Then he turns around and says, "but its ok sometimes for scientific use"
then when i tell him how easy it is to find shampoos etc not tested on animals he freaks out about it, and makes up insane exuses why we cant buy them!.
Ok, so I have been vegetarian for one year now (yay me!) Well, my boyfriend has said he supports me 100% then i told him that i would like to try veganism!. even just for one week to see how it goes, and he freaked out about that too!. I am confused why he acts like this!. Does anyone have any ideas or similar situations!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Being vegan, I've encountered a lot of people who feel like they need to defend and justify their meat-eating to me!. I've always felt pretty weird about this, as I have never lectured people on their personal choice to eat meat!. It's something that you will definitely have to get used to if you are going to be vegan!.
Perhaps your boyfriend is just feeling defensive because he doesn't want you to judge him negatively!. also, maybe he doesn't understand veganism or your reasons for becoming vegan well enough!. To me, it does not sound like you are trying to force your ideals on him, but he might be a little intimidated anyway!.

Veganism seems pretty extreme to lots of people, so I would just sit down and talk to him about your choice and the benefits you believe it has!. I wish you the best of luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well what i see it's that he can't make up his mind, like he feels guilty about animal testing but is not quite ready to try to be a vegetarian, but bottom line it's that if you want to be a vegan that's your choice and he should respect it, and also don't try to push him into being a veggie either he will do it if he wants if not let him be!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

cant tell u why he flipped about teh shampoo, but maybe he thinks a vegan wont be as healthy as a omni or vegetarian because there aer less options for food and hes worried about your health!?

just go ahead and buy the shampoo not tested on animals, youre an adult *assumably* and dont need his permission to buy what you feel is proper!.!.!.
he probably wont even notice the switch if you buy the non animal tested stuff!.!.!.
if you wanna try veganism, go ahead and try it, youre a bid girl and he isnt your daddy/male guardianWww@FoodAQ@Com

something tells me this isn't the whole story!.

i honestly don't understand the appeal of being a vegetarian!.
humans are primates (homo sapian) we evolved to be omnivores!.
meat is very important for our diet, and our digestive tracks

btw if there was no animal testing we wouldn't have most of the medical procedures (surgeries) or medications (insulin)!.

to answer your question it sounds like a very touchy subject and it may be best to avoid itWww@FoodAQ@Com

You cant force your ideals onto someone else, like you cant force religion onto your partner!. He dosnt feel strongly about animal rights like you do, thats all!. Yopu have to accept that, like he has accepted and supported you!. Good on you be the way but you cant force people to change and causing arguments all the time will just break you two up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i'm vegan and can't understand meat eaters when i bring it up eyes roll we have been eating meat for thousands of years and some believe they need it for energy and strength!.but thats not true!.i have no problem working and my system feels way better stay the way you are no matter what your boy friend says!.are you with peta!? if not check them out @peta!.org!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why do we all feel the need to tell other people what to do!? Can't drive that car, can't eat that food, can't do this, must do that!. Hey, quit imprisoning this guy!. All he wants a little piece of ***!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

even though you think you asked calmly - he probably feels like you're attacking him!. The reason he's your boyfriend is because you liked him - don't try to mold him into something he's not!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If it's going to be a big issue, I suggest you date vegetarians exclusively from now on!Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is a singles & dating question with a vegan twist!.!.!. interesting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How would you feel if he made you eat meat for a week!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's very simple, he doesn't want you to burst his bubble!.
It's the bubble of ignorance that surrounds most people!.
The word "ignore" is a big part of ignorance!. To be ignorant takes quite a lot of work, actually!. You really have to focus yourself and consciously choose to 'ignore' certain bits and pieces of information!.
See, people are lazy!. It takes a wee bit of effort to read labels, to be informed, look into things, research, ask questions, etc!. Being an informed individual is Self Education, plain and simple!. It takes some and energy etc!. It's "work"!. He doesn't want to "work"!. Ignorance is Bliss!. And you are influencing his ignorance bubble!. He wants to plug his ears and say "La la la la la la I'm not listening la la la!.!.!." and keep things in his life plain and simple!. Battling Evil is a tough job!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You sound like a ******, that's why!. The stricter your lifestyle becomes the more you are going to nag on your bf for not being as "good" as you!. Drop the holier than thou attitude and maybe he will offer up his support!. You chose to be vegetarian, not him!.

edit - lol, n a gg er is censored!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've seen people who are vegetarian, yet they're drinking milk, using animal products such as makeup, wearing leather coats!.

It's silly to be honest!. I'm a carnivore and my skin is still soft as a vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

maybe he doesn't feel comfortable with you practcing veganism along him(it's his thingWww@FoodAQ@Com

i like meatWww@FoodAQ@Com
