Is coconut milk good for our health or not?!

Question: Is coconut milk good for our health or not!?
I know plants tend to be good BUT coconuts are really high in saturated fats but I've always been told that plant saturated fats worked differently in the body then animal saturated fats, so what is it!?
I'm asking since I bought a fresh coconut and REALLY liked the milk and could see myself drinking it every once in awhile but I don't want the saturated fats if they're unhealthy!.
THANKS!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Coconut milk is 25% fat and that fat contains 80% saturated fats so coconut milk is 20% saturated fat!. But it has 0 cholesterol

The water from the center(coconut water) is good source of potassium which controls too much sodium in our body!. It also contains vitamin C!.

Coconut milk contain coconut oil!. coconut oil(virgin) is useful for people who are suffering from certain diseases like skin diseases, hearth diseases, cancers and AIDS!. Studies conducted in the Philippines last year showed that coconut oil does indeed reduce the viral load in AIDS patients!.

Coconut Milk is also good source of potassium so if you use coconut milk for salty dishes, It become healthier!.

coconut oil is the best oil for cooking and frying because it is very stable in high heat unlike olive oil which is one of the healthiest oil but olive oil is harmful when heated!.

Medium chain fatty acids found in coconut oil also speed up the body’s metabolism, burning more calories and promoting weight loss!.

But Coconut milk contain omega 6 fatty acids and no omega 3 fatty acids!. We need Omega 3 and Omega 6 in our diet but the problem is we get too much omega 6 fatty acids but we we don't get the right amount of omega 3!. the ideal ratio should be 1 omega 3 fatty acids to 1-4 omega 6 fatty acids(1-4:1)!. But modern western diet has average of 1 omega 3 fatty acids and 40 omega 6 fatty acids(1:40)!. However most of the fats fount in coconut milk are mostly saturated and monounsaturated fats!. Unlike commercial vegetable oil which is mostly omega 6 fatty acids!. 1 tablespoon of coconut oil contains only 250mg of omega 6!. and one cup of coconut milk has 2!.5 tablespoon of coconut oil!. and it is easily balance by 1 sheet of nori/seaweed which contains 300mg of omega 3 and almost no omega 6!.

Coconut Milk and coconuts are EXTREMELY healthy for you!.also there is nothing wrong with animal fat or cholesterol, you need saturated fat to live!. In the 1900's,people ate 18 lbs of butter per day,and lived to be 95 years old!.In thailand, the same statistics existed, but they consumed lbs upon lbs of coconut per year, giving them healthier skin, cholesterol levels and positive mood balance!

Drink up and eat up,they are very good for you!.

Oh and StephT ,I don't mean to be mean here ,but daily percentages of fat intake are extrmely flawed and innacurate!.If i'm a 6' 4" 235 lb male with low bodyfat!.!.and my girlfriend is 5'7" 140 low bodyfat, would we need need the same amount of fat intake!? No! we would need completely different levels of macronutrients!. sorry ,that's just the way it is:)

Fat is your friend, eat the darn coconuts! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

20% of your total fat intake for the day can be saturated and be considered healthful!. If your sticking to the max of 60g of total fats per day, that's 12g!. of saturated fat per day!. Coconuts would be a better source than animal fats b/c they have the additional benefits of providing nutrients and acting as a mild anti-viral, bacterial and fungal!

Coconut water is fine!. I believe it's traditionally recommended for pregnant women!.

Coconut milk and coconut cream are ok in moderation!. Added to a curry, it gives a richer texture and taste, and tones down the spiciness a fraction!. You'll especially find it in south Indian and Thai curries!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you drank the liquid out of the centre, this is coconut water!.

Coconut milk is made by squeezing the flesh through a sieve and is high in fats but is still ok in small quantities!.

Coconut water is a really good way of rehydrating - far better than plain water and isn't high in fat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Coconut milk is fine for you, in small amounts!. It contains a lot of (natural) sugars and calories, but it's delicious!. Don't, however, use it too often, such as every day on your cereal!. It's a bit more like chocolate soy milk, delicious but go easy on it :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Coconut is really good for you!.

And of course it's like everything else!.!. There's only so much a coconut will give you, so don't over eat, be moderate :-)
But it it's still, really good for you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Definitely good for you! In moderation of course :) Maybe one or two servings a day!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
