Animal Cruelty in the Meat Industry?!

Question: Animal Cruelty in the Meat Industry!?
I have to give a 7 minute speech on it and I'm lost!.!.!.!.HELP!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Visit a slaughterhouse and you'll see that everything Wahoo said is wrong!.

also, you could talk about the research that shows that cows, pigs, chickens, etc!. are as intelligent as our beloved canines and felines that we are so protective of!. These livestock experience pain and trauma just as much as a dog! Unfortunate that we needed scientists to tell us this!.

Just do your own research and go from there!. The best way to go would be to present info from BOTH sides!. The animal rights side and the side of the meat factory which is just trying to meet the demand for meat in a cost efficient manner!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How can you actually do a 7 minute speech on animal cruelty in the meat industry!? theres laws nowadays which prevent animal cruelty, I highly doubt that an organisation would risk everything by treating animals incorrectly!. isn't that funny though, another veghead going on about animal cruelty and they don't even know a bloody thing about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Oh wow, look at that, a thumbsdown!. If the asker thumbed me down, it pretty much proves how much the truth hurtsWww@FoodAQ@Com

A couple of good books to check out are "Slaughterhouse" by Gail Eisnitz and "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser!. None push a particularly veg agenda, just put out the facts about what goes on in slaughterhouses and animal industrial facilities (a!.k!.a!. "factory farms")!. In fact, as far as I know, Scholsser is still an ominvore!. How he can do so after writing a line like "There is sh*t in the meat" is beyond me!.

Paul: Although there are laws that supposedly prevent animal cruelty, they are pretty weak and laxly enforced!. They also don't apply to birds, who comprise 90 percent of animals killed and eaten!. With 10 billion animals killed every year in the U!.S!. alone, it's pretty hard for the USDA inspectors to ensure proper standards of care!. And that only applies to the facilities where they are killed, not the facilities where they are raised!.

You might also want to check out Howard Lyman's "Mad Cowboy"!. Although he doesn't really focus on the cruelty aspects, he is a former rancher and can assure you that he was cruel not only to the cattle he raised but to employees of the ranch!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Interview someone who worked in a slaughterhouse!. I have known people that worked in slaughterhouses and are still traumatized by what went on there!. They butcher animals while they are still alive because there's just so many they can't keep up!. I still eat meat though, because it tastes good and it's good for you, but I wish they would change how they treat the animals!. Going vegetarian is completely useless in stopping this from happening!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you're worried about cruelty in a slaughterhouse, raise your own and butcher it yourself -- like we do!.
Although we do it because we want to know how our food is raised, and the only way to ensure that it's raised the way we want it raised, is to do it ourselves!.

Cruelty in slaughterhouses is NOT the norm, it's the result of untrained workers who do not last long!. The fines are too great, these places can't afford to keep abusive people on their payrolls!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Somewhere above me is an idiot that needs spelling lessons!. *cough*ulala*cough*

I agree with Ann above me, i dont normally buy meat from the stores *only on occasion* and usually help my parents raise meat animals!.
*we arent cruel, we dont abuse our animals, and we dont fill them up with chemicals and medications* they live pretty much a free range life, get fresh food and fresh water every day, and fresh bedding every day or every other day depending on how wet the weather is!.
we also hunt deer and wild turkeys for food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Like VeggieTart above me said read "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser!.

This website will also give you lots of info to use in your speech!.

Cruelty is a mantra that is pushed by the anti meat whack jobs!. What is the definition of cruel!? The industry does not practice cruelty because it results in a damaged product and therefore more waste and lower prices!. Granted, some individuals probably abuse animals but that is the exception!. I firmly believe that many of the film clips that are circulated were staged or encouraged for shock effectWww@FoodAQ@Com

there's no cruelty thou in meat industry!.!.farm animals need to be slaughtered coz tht's d best way to make sure that d meat is clean frm its blood!.n people only eat farm animals coz our body need nutritions frm d meat!.!.it's not cruelty coz they r plenty of them!.n d farm owner still have to feed n take care of d animals until it's ready to be slaughtered!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
