Why isn't sugar considered vegan?!
and what king of sugar can a vegan eat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Some white refined sugar are processed through bone char but you would have to call up companies to ask them if they use bone char or not!. also pretty much all of the fake artificial sugars are either tested on animals or have some sort of animal ingredients in them or are extremely harmful to you like the DDT sweetener Splenda (which was made by accident when they were trying to make another pesticide based off of DDT) I would stick with natural pure cane sugar or Turbinado, Muscovado, or Demerara sugar all natural brown sugars or sweeteners like Agave Nectar or molasses (I would go with blackstrap because it has the most nutrition out of the 3 stages of molasses)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Isnt it!? i'm just vegetarian, not vegan, but yea, most sugar does not come from animals!. Lactose might be off limits, that i would understand!. But most other kinds of sugar should be ok!. High fructose corn syrup is basically liquid sugar, and that makes it pretty unhealthy, so it may be frowned upon by vegans, but it is fructose, taken from corn!. no animals are involved
note: as stated before, i'm not vegan, i'm not an expert on that subjectWww@FoodAQ@Com

It's only refined white sugar that you need to worry about - it's been filtered through charcoal which might be fine (carbon) but could be bone chard!.
White sugar's not good for you anyway - all the good stuff has been stripped out!. Raw sugar, Florida sugar, maple sugar and similar are all better for you and vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

sugar is vegan except for some refined white sugar!.
white sugar is filtered, and some companies use a filter made of charred cattle bones!. sugar is liquid when it goes through the filter and it makes the crystalized product whiter in the end!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
