Im a little nervous about peoples reactions... how can i let go of my self consciousness.?!

Question: Im a little nervous about peoples reactions!.!.!. how can i let go of my self consciousness!.!?
alright, so im vegan, i have been for 3 months, and it took me almost a week to bring myself to tell people that im vegan!. im so used to caring about what other people think, and im seriously trying to let go of this need to be accepted!.!. but my decision to go vegan was for the animals and the planet in general, so i sucked it up because i wanted to have people be aware of veganism and give them the opportunity to ask me questions ect!.

but now im considering going raw (only eating fresh fruits and vegetables with the occasional nuts and seeds) and im scared to tell people about it!. i feel like i could use some support right now, but from the reactions i got about my decision to go vegan, i dont think i'll be getting it from my friends or family!. its taken months just to get people to understand it!. i think that because this is more personal (because its just about me and my health) that im more self conscious about it!.

ugh!. its just depressing to me that something that seems so good and basic to me is going to be so widely un-accepted by my friends and family!.

anyways, what are some ways to deal with this, i just need some advice right now!.

(oh, and im not asking for opinions on my decision, just advice on how to deal with peoples reactions)

thanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

If they don't approve of your decision, you should tell them why you are vegan or raw!. Inform them about your reasons and the benefits and maybe they will understand better!. I really don't see why people have such a problem about what other people eat!. Hopefully people will accept and respect your choices!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

just be proud of your decision and don't listen to other people, just make sure that you don't try to force your ideas on others!. That's what i face sometimes just being vegetarian!. Like i tell them that i'm vegetarian and they feel like they for some reason have to give me an excuse for their eating meat!. You just have to do your own thing :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

dont be scared!. be proud!. tell them about it and be proud that you are doing it!. they can think what they want but who cares!. they can be idiots!. it is your life and body!. live it the way you want!. if they arent supportive then dont change!. live it your way!. this is your life and you decide it!. if they act like ' ew your vegan' then go 'yes i am! :)' be proud and always be!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why the need to tell them at all!? It's none of their business!. Whether they accept it or not, doesn't make a difference!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wish I could have given myself the same advice now, but at 17!.
I would say "Who gives a cr@p!?" Honestly!. It's your body, you obviously are a smart girl about this, you will make the right eating decisions!.
So if those around you are to hard-headed about it, then good luck trying to educate them about raw-veganism!.

Personally I've never tried it!. I'm just a true blue vegetarian right now, but if I were going on any other diet, I would damn make sure I was doing it right!. Don't let others tell you that you're wrong about this!.

Stick to your guns no matter what, because I know you're going to go through with it and be happy about the decision!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was the same way except im a vegetarian anyways you don't have to care what people think if the hate on you tell them (this may be mean but) at least i don't hurt poor Innocent animals everyday (that's what i say cause im a kid) but im mean its not that hard you'll get used to it just have a long deep conversation with you re friends and give the very good reasons why you have changed you diet!. From experience, I actually had to go to a wedding recently and everyone but me was a meat-eater luckily my cousin was nice enough to have them bring me a vegetarian menu!. so basically just go with the flow what ever happens happensWww@FoodAQ@Com

it took me 3 weeks to tell my freindsWww@FoodAQ@Com

just remember what you're doin it for, it's a good thing that u're doin this and you should feel good about this decision inside and out!. Don't let no one tell you that what you are doing is wrong or tell you why They think you should take part in their meat eating!. I was vegetarian all through high school and let my late husband talk me out ov it (basically peer pressure)!. I regret that now but in mid- Sept!. i decided to go back to vegetarianism and i'm slowly working towards veganism!. I get 'advise' everyday from meat eaters and i just let it slide off my shoulders, they ain't worth my time or frustration!. That's what they wanna do is work u up and make u lose track ov what's important to you just because it makes them uncomfortable!. Good Luck To You!Www@FoodAQ@Com
