Yes! I vomited all over my friends rug during the biggest party of the year. then i started to cry and i ran out and slipped on the vomit and twisted my ankle. My crush saw me and i think i sprayed on her shoes too. It happened because I ate a piece of someones german sausage by accident! I thought it was fotu!
Yes I have. One time I went to Chipotle and I ordered a veggie burrito, and I asked for pinto beans instead of black beans. Because of the hispanic workers, they had a thick accent. When I asked for pinto beans all I could under stand was "It has b---- (word that started with a b but I couldn't understand), is that okay?" I said sure that's fine. After eating about half of my burrito I felt a piece of flesh stuck in my teeth and it turns out it was bacon. I felt disgusted and ashamed. After that, I disected my burrito and spent minutes taking out all of the bacon I could find. I however do appreciate the worker trying to let me know of this, but it was my fault for not being sure of what he said at first. This event reinforced my will power to avoid meat on a higher level.
Vegan
All the time, they sneak meat into so many prepared foods, like deli foods that have NO mention of meat in the name of the product . Many other instances TOO many to even list .
What annoys me the MOST is when a resaurant will have soup like POTATO or BROCCOLI and put MEAT in it . You always have to ask uggh. You are expecting a big spoon of veges and soup and you taste nothing but meat . Or a restaurant that insists on putting small slivers of meat into their gravy like SHARIS , then give you a dirty look when you ask for a different one. Dennys has the best gravy by the way , and they are the MOST accomodating whenever you dont want meat in something .
I ate a popsicle once and then I realized it had gelatin in it. I was kind of upset, but I had been a vegetarian for so long it was hard for me to even understand what I had eaten. And when I had been a vegetarian for like 2 or 3 years I learned that I couldn't eat cheese because of the rennet (I don't know if you care about cheese or not), and I had been eating enzymes for years! I was just glad that I wouldn't eat anymore.
Yes, that's happened to me a couple of times. The most recent time was a few months ago, I went to Taco Bell (drive thru) and ordered what I usually get, a bean, rice, and salsa burrito. I drive away and took a bite of the burrito, chewed a couple of times, feeling like something wasn't quite right, and then looked down at it to realize that it was actually packed with beef. I didn't panic, I immediately spit it out into a napkin, rinsed my mouth out with some water, drove back to the restaurant, and asked them to make a new one. They did, and the guy who took my order said he accidentally pressed the wrong button on what burrito to make. But I didn't die or get sick or anything, so that's good. :P
Yes. Just a few days after I went vegan, my dad had done some grocery shopping and bought a carton of potato salad. It didn't list the ingredients on it, but I had a look and all I could see was potato, chives, parsley etc all in sauce. Halfway through eating a bowl of it I realised there were tiny pieces of ham in it. I felt a bit grossed out by the fact that I'd just eaten ham but it wasn't a huge deal. I just threw the rest of my bowl out and learnt my lesson - always check ingredients, and don't eat things that don't tell you what's in it.
Yes. A couple times I have been eating French fries and found out they had beef in them. They served them to me with a veggie burger too, so what gives? I also used a stir fry sauce that a vegan friend recommended me for a couple years before finding out it had fish sauce in it. Also, the same thing that happened to you happened to me, but that was when I still ate cheese pizza.
Things like this really don't help the argument that vegetarianism is becoming easier in the modern world. Even if it is true most of the time.
Yes, this has happened to me. I was at school camp, and I had vegan written on my food form so when I went up to get my veggie burger, they told me it was vegan. Anyway, I was sitting at my table and had one bight and it tasted really gross, like all fatty and meaty. Anyway, I went back and told them that I didn't think it was vegan, and turns out they had gotten mine mixed up with a regular one :/
It's unfortunate but we do the best we can :)
I think everyone's probably had one of those incidents.
The first one I can recall was many years ago, when I was about 17 and I'd been a vegetarian for about 3 years. My class stayed a night at our teacher's house - I know, that could probably not happen these days - and some went out to get some Chinese takeaway for everyone. My "vegetables" turned out to have some chicken in them - not sure which plant chickens come from. I remember calling Ralph a few times that night.
Probably only about twice since then that I know of.
Vegan!
I've gotten a piece of chicken in Vegetarian canned soup before : / Thankfully I didn't swallow it
may have accidentally eaten lard. maybe.
Once I found a piece of chicken in my tofu pad thai. It was kind of gross, and I spit it out.
Yes a few times :/
About a year and a half ago my boyfriend offered me some tacos from Jack in the Box he said the meat was made from soy so I took a bite, I was very hesitant about it so I googled it and found out it wasn't soy meat at all! >:(
This past Thanksgiving my mom made the gravy out of the turkey fat and it had a bit of turkey in it, a few weeks ago I went to Popeyes with my boyfriend, ordered some mash potatoes, the gravy seemed like it didn't have any meat in it until I ate a bite, ugh I was so sad. I usually get really really upset when I accidently eat meat, I feel so guilty and disgusting even if it was a small little bit.
