True or false - Being a vegetarian or vegan helps eliminate bad breath?!

Question: True or false - Being a vegetarian or vegan helps eliminate bad breath?
Answers:

No, a vegan diet does not eliminate bad breath but it certainly helps with the odor. What causes bad breath is the bacteria eating the sugar in your mouth and the sulfur being produced. By eating less processed foods and more complex carbs, there is less of the odor. Brushing and flossing regularly will keep your mouth clean and fresh on top of that.

Bad breath is caused by odor-producing bacteria that grow in the mouth. When you don't brush and floss regularly, bacteria accumulate on the bits of food left in your mouth and between your teeth. The sulfur compounds released by these bacteria make your breath smell.

Additionally, if you have trouble digesting things, it could be another cause of bad breath. Gasses produced during the digestive process may escape through your mouth, emanating the odor it produces. Poor digestion resulting in constipation and disorders of the bowel may contribute to bad breath again, from the gasses that are produced during this process.

Foods that are hard to digest include dairy products, high-fiber foods, high fat foods (like meat) and spicy foods.

So in essence, if a person is having trouble digesting meat or dairy it could cause halitosis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halitosis Generally, its more about proper dental care though.

Depends on your habits. If you're a veg*n, but you eat a lot of garlic and onions and other smelly foods, then false. If you're veg*n, but drink a lot of alcohol, then false. If you're a veg*n, but don't clean your teeth every day, then false. If you're a veg*n, but smoke, then false.
