Question:
How can I make a giant vegan cupcake?
This is going to sound like the most impossible task in the world, but I am going to attempt it! I have a giant cupcake pan made by Wilton (the one that is a combined top and bottom pan that basically makes a cupcake the size of an actual cake), but I want to use it to make a giant VEGAN vanilla cupcake for my boyfriend (he's a vegan, obviously, and he likes vanilla cake, so...). I bake cupcakes all the time, but I have never used this pan and I have never made a vegan cupcake. Basically I'm checking to see if anyone has any delicious vegan vanilla cake/cupcake recipes that would work in that large of a pan? Also, I'm not sure if this will make a difference, but sometimes when I make cupcakes I put in a little something wrapped in foil to bake inside as a surprise, and I was planning to put a picture wrapped in foil in there but would that keep the vegan cupcake from rising, especially since it will be such a large cupcake? Just wondering. I know I'm mixing a million different ideas here, but if I could pull this off it would probably be the greatest thing ever.

I'd go with a cake recipe, as cupcakes and cakes rise differently and using cupcake batter for such a large cupcake couls screw something up.
If you've done the foil thing in cakes before, I don't see why it wouldn't work. The only thing really changing is the shape/size of the cake, after all. How big is the picture compared to the cupcake thing?
I'm more of a cookie/brownie person than a cake person, so I've never actually tried vegan cake, but I'd say look on vegweb.com for a well-reviewed vailla cake recipe.
If its for a 9x13 pan, halve it and try it in an 8x8 pan first, just to see if it works. Don't use a new recipe for the first time when its for something like someon's birthday; check to see if it's good first.
Good luck :)
