What exactly is tofu and what do I do with it?!
Answers:
Tofu or bean curd[3] is a food made by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into soft white blocks
Really good recipe I would recommend two things- One my hubby would recommend is cooking like french fries.
I recommend a stir fry recipe
Chinese Tofu Stir-Fry
Prep: 10 min, Cook: 10 min.
?1 Tbs. plus 1 tsp. oil
?1 clove garlic, crushed
?13 ounces firm tofu, drained and cut into 3/4 inch cubes
?4 shallots or green onions, chopped
?1/4 Chinese cabbage, shredded
?1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
?1 tomato, diced
?1 Tbs. plus 1 tsp. soy sauce
?1/4 cup Hoisin sauce
?1/3 cup plus 3 Tbs. fresh bean sprouts
Heat oil in a frying pan over a moderate to high heat. Sauté garlic; add tofu and cook for about 5 minutes, or until crispy. Tofu is made as a by-product of curdling soy milk from soy beans. Soy beans are soaked and then ground down with water, the resulting liquid after straining is what makes soy milk. The soy milk is then heated up and coagulated with salts like calcium sulfate or magnesium chloride.
Once the majority of the milk is coagulated, the curded mixture is then poured into a cheese cloth lined mold and allowed to sit until fully formed into a cheese like block. The cheesecloth allows for the whey to drain more away from the block that the soy curd is turning into. When the tofu has solidified, it is packaged with water for soaking or placed in aseptic containers for sale.
Tofu is known for its extraordinary nutritional benefits, as well as its versatility.
It is easy for the human body to digest.
It is high in quality proteins, calcium, B vitamins and isoflavones which can help to reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

It's soybean curd. Dice it and add to soup noodle, or in your miso soup , deep fry it and add to grilled asparagus and sweet soy sauce, glass noodles and chicken , Or cube it over an oriental inspired salad of shredded cabbage, endive, sesame oil/soy-sauce/chilli dressing. Sprinkle seaweed shreds over and sesame seeds.
It's soy. You can cook it in a pan and put sauce on it. Tofu really doesn't taste like anything by itself so you have to help it a bit :)
jafooly from the fonejacker! lol
you can put cubed tofu in soups, in a stir fry, anything that has flavour because it doesn't taste like anything
you can bread and fry it.
you can marinade it.
cook it with sauce. mix it with a dish / rice
Throw that shiz away. Soy's bad for you.
