Does my dad seriously think I'm malnorished?!

Question: Does my dad seriously think I'm malnorished?
According to my dad I need to "get as much protein as possible" and have my mom pack my lunch now because he doesn't want me to have a protein deffincey. First of all I'm almost 14 I've been a vegetarian since age 11 and I've had no problems relating to my vegetarisnism. I've grown a bit since I went veg and I have enough energy for school and sports. When I first went vegetarian my parents refused and went on about "it's a fake American thing in other places they eat meat" and about how "people are starving" ect. Now they're actulley very supportive and understand that what they said was wrong exept for thinking I'm malnorished. They them selves hardly eat meat exept maybe once every two weeks or something. I would know much more about vegetarisnism than them. I don't know what kind of propoganda they've been feeding in to but seriously the protein myth is getting do freaking old. We're not living in some third world country where your lucky to have 4 spoons of food every day we live in America where we have plenty of alternitives to meat. Does my dad pay attention to heart disease? Almost every man in his family has died from it. Heart disease kills much more people than malnorishment. The last time I checked it was the leading cause of death. Why do people worry about protein? Why don't they care more about a health problem they're more likly to have? It's just ridiculus that people would think that.
Why do they think that and has any one else ever had this kind of problem?.

Answers:

well if you are very slim and eat generally little you may be malnourished. no matter if vegetarian or meat eater, you need healthy amounts of food to not suffer protein deficiency.
parents may be worried their child is becoming anorexic. they always worry about you,
if you are honestly not too slim they will realize that you are fine the way you eat.
if you feel your eating habits are bordering on obsessive behaviour they might have reason to worry , then it's best not to close up towards them in case you need their help.

You can get protein from other food groups, not just meat.

You can get protein from eggs, milk, cheese, butter. Healthier alternatives are things like lentils, beans etc.

Lentil soup is a great way to use lentils.

There are thousands of vegetarians who don't suffer from illness. Try taking multi-vitamins aswel, there a good source for all your requirements.

:)

I'm sorry but I cannot read your parents minds. Maybe they are just concerned about your health.

Or are you simply another teenage girl complaining about how unreasonable your parents are?
I'm certainly glad my daughter isn't a defiant little smart ***.
