A simple question about?!

Question: A simple question about?
The DV % tells you how to caculate your nutrient intake from foods. Do I really need to count everything I eat ? Or can I jsut eat a well balance diet of each food group to get my required nutrients per day ? The problem is, how would I know ? I eat whole grians, legumes, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits. I make sure to get pently of vitamin B12 by drinking soy milk and almond milk. I also get my vitamin D from the sun about 20 minuets per day standing outside, but during the Winter, I have to drink more soy milk and almond milk.

first, the DV % is based on a 2000 calorie diet, which may not be right for you. the easy answer is eating a well balanced diet, heavy in vegetables, moderate in fruits with some whole grains is better than focusing only on your DV % and eating processed food.

if you do want to obsess over what the calories are in your fruits and veggies, the web has calorie counters and nutrition labels for those (ie http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-fruits-fruit-juices-ic0900 )

regardless of my diet, my doctor has always advocated a minimally processed daily vitamin. (mine happens to be a raw, vegan brand: http://www.gardenoflife.com/ProductsforLife/THEVITAMINCODEsupsup/tabid/1368/Default.aspx )
