New vegetarian - how do I get enough protein?!

Question: New vegetarian - how do I get enough protein?
I`m trying to increase the amount of protein, but am finding it hard to change my diet and dont have many ideas.

I eat roasted soya beans, and try to incorporate cheese into meals as much as possible. I need to get a veggie cookbook

What about protein supplements? (powdered soya or whey protein). I realise they arent ideal, but do they work?

Here's what I do for protein: I enjoy whey protein, steak, eggs, milk, cheese, chicken, anything with a face. Try those they've been working for me!

There are plenty of other kinds of beans and plenty of ways to eat them. It's a good idea to eat beans every day. Just be careful of increasing your fibre intake too suddenly - you need to do it gradually or you'll upset your guts. Other good protein sources are milk and yogurt, tofu, nuts and seeds, especially hemp.

I don't like supplements, myself.

A good veggie cookbook is a really great idea. Knowing how to cook, and having a great source of ideas, really empowers you in terms of making food choices that are right for you.

You can get all the protein you need from a plant based diet (or some people wait until the cow eats the plants and then eat the cow)

Combining legumes and grain gives you a complete protein because each has the amino acids the other is low on. That's why eating beans and rice together in a meal is a good thing.

Ive tried to get enough iron through my diet alone and I just cant. So I take an iron supplement. Also, when I got my blood work done i found out i was deficient in b12 so I take a b complex and a multivitamin.

You dont need any protein supplements. By eating right you can take all your daily intakes in vitamins and minerals. For protein, lentils and beans are packed with enough protein.

Just eat food. As long as you're consuming enough calories, you're getting enough protein.
