You can find both miso paste and nori at Whole Foods. Any large grocery store should carry miso.

You should be able to get both at an Asian grocery store if the selection is good enough. Also, try health food stores. They often have both of those. I know that where I live the nicer grocery stores tend to have miso. As far as ready made miso soup goes, I imagine that where I live for instance that I would only find that at the nicer, more upscale grocery stores, the ones that carry lots of ready made food, such as Whole Foods. You could try calling around. The problem is that a lot of stores may actually have it, but the person you talk to on the phone could be totally clueless. I've had that happen. I remember asking someone about tahini, which for Mediterranean food is so basic, and she was like "who is that lady?" Then again, a lot of those cashier types didn't even know the names of many of the vegetables they carried! I hope this helps. Homemade miso soup is easy to make, and it's well worth it. Much cheaper I am sure than what you would pay for ready made miso soup, and you can have it whenever you want it.

Also, the miso will be refrigerated, if that helps, and the nori will often be in the asian section.

Also, I want to add that at least where I live even a lot of the normal grocery stores have what you are looking for. The price may vary a lot from store to store though.

I'm not sure, but I think that you can buy Miso paste in Asian food markets. You could also try health food stores and grocery stores that have a large supply of organic foods. If I were you, I would call a few different stores and ask if they carry Miso Paste. Maybe Whole Foods might carry it.

I always go to this east/west imports store, not a grocery store. There are a ton of these places all over down town, but then again I do live in a collage kid infested town. Don't forget the hondushi!
