Yes, don't put porcelain or glass on burners. My mom did that once with a green bean casserole in a glass pan. She set it down on the stove without realizing the burner was on, and the glass pan completely shattered. Actually, it really exploded. O_O
Someone else suggested that your teapot would still make a good flower pot, and I agree. It could also make a nice storage container or even a candy pot. :3
(or even a pot pot, if you know what I mean) ;D
Just kidding. (But not really.)
either you were gypped or the tea pot is the kind where the water is heated using another container and the hot water poured into it later. Next time ask for specifics before paying.
Some of the Japanese tea pots I own can take being placed on charcoal braziers to boil/ heat the water. Modern gas burners may be "too hot". Besides if you are using it for green tea, water temp should not exceed 145-180 degrees F or you will end up with "burning" the tea.
they aren't meant to be used on the stove !!!
boil water in a proper pot, then pour into the teapot to brew the tea
fill tea pot with hot water while you're waiting for it to boil so it will be warm inside
stays warmer that way
sorry about your nice teapot
it still would make a nice planter or do a silk flower arrangement in it
