What colour is it? Maybe an apple/pear hybrid?

It is possible to produce seedless fruits because plants can have multiple copies of the sex chromosomes. We have two, but plants can have three or four. This is how seedless grapes and watermelons are produced, one in every few generations will be infertile. Never heard of this in apples, so my guess is its a hybrid or a rare/new variety.

If it has a pit, then it is not an apple, as apples aren't stone fruits.

Most likely they packaged another fruit incorrectly. I know there is a south american fruit that I kind of describe as a mix between a pear, apple and potato. I forget the name though! I had it once in San Francisco... grr

(also, color could be helpful. the thing I've had is a light green, kind of like a pear)

Apples are part of the Rose family. Which has pears peaches cherries an plums. So I would guess that the "apples" you have gotten are definitely apples just very rare. After all there is 2,500 varieties grown in United States and at least 7,500 worldwide.

I don't think they're apples. Avocados, peaches, apricots and some other fruits have a large "pit" in the center instead of seeds. Click on the site below to see if any of these look like what you bought.

What else did the bag say on it?

do you mean it's hollow?
