You can with a few precautions. I learned recently that regular sugar is often processed with bone char (an animal product of course). I never knew that, but you learn something new every day. But I would think that you could use raw sugar, agave syrup or rice syrup, but the taste may be different.
Hi there! Well, actually, you can make your own sweet tea. Like someone above me said, it is really just black tea with sugar. My dad keeps black tea around (we're big tea drinkers), so I make it all the time. As long as you use cane sugar then you can eat it. This is how I make mine:
1- Bag of BLACK TEA
6- oz of WATER
1 1/2- Teaspoons of SUGAR*
*You can replace the sugar with Agave Nectar, which is also made from a plant, so it is vegan like sugar. But, it is healthier.

Most premade sweet tea is made with white sugar, the kind vegans won't touch because of the bone char issue.
If you make the tea yourself, you know what kind of sugar is in it.
Yes, but don't do it often. Sugar really isn't good for you. You can sweeten your tea with agave nectar, fructose, etc. Those are natural sweeteners.
Like another answer, as long as it's not sweetened with honey. Also as long as it's not sweetened with artificial sugars like Splenda that are tested on animals. It causes cancer in lab rats.
As far as I know, you can. A lot of sweeteners are made without the use of bone char these days.
