Thinking About Becoming A Vegetarian?!

Question: Thinking About Becoming A Vegetarian?
I'm thirteen years old and thinking about becoming a vegetarian. How hard do you think it would be? Any advice?

Answers:

I am around your age and I am also a vegetarian. I have been one for a little over 6 months.
I recommend becoming a vegetarian slowly. I know some people that tried to do it all at once, and they ended up going back to eating meat within a month. First try giving up either poultry or red meat (whichever you eat less). For about a month, eat no red meat or poultry, and cut back on your consumption of the other. After the month, completely cut out the other meat. This should be fairly easy since you spent the last month cutting down on it. This will leave you with just fish. Eat fish for awhile after giving up all other meat. When you've been a vegetarian for a couple months, fish should be easy to give up compared to the other meats.

I found that at first being a vegetarian was hard. I always craved my favorite meat dishes. But now that I've been one for awhile, I am disgusted by the thought of meat. Somebody could put a huge burger in front of me and I wouldn't even be tempted to eat it. I think as long as you strongly believe it's the right thing to do and you take it slow, you should be fine.

Well I've been a vegetarian for 7 years. For me is was so easy! But thats because I hate meat (taste, texture).

I would write down all your reasons why you want to become veg. To make sure this is what you want. If you decide this is what you want you need to research a veg. diet so you knownyour getting essential nutrients (iron, protien, calcium, omega-3 dha and EPA).

Also, I would eliminate being around meat as much as possible for te first 6 months to a year. My husband is veg. now and hebhad a hard time because he loves meat but he learned he just needed to stay away from it and remind himself why he was becoming veg.

Vegetarian for 7 years

I have been one for over a year and Its not hard for me. You just have to have a lot of will power and believe in what your doing. And if your doing it for animal rights than just keep reminding yourself of that and it will be easier. The first few week will be the hardest but you can still eat all kinds of food you just have to learn different recipes and ways to cook things but you will feel a lot better and healthier. You can do it!
Good luck

I think your awesome and wish i did it when i was just 13 :) i started at 17 instead .
Its actually pretty easy well it was for me i went on peta one night and watched paul McCartney's video ' if slaughter houses had glass walls' and said to my self i am not eating meat again and i stopped :) .

You really don't miss anything come on you can have vegi hot dogs, burgers, bacon, sausage roles, pies , tode in the hole etc etc things you wouldnt think you can have again Everything that you ate before has a alternative a nice vegi one :)

You should eat meat. Meat is very healthy as it is an excellent source of many nutrients, vitamins and minerals, including high-quality protein with all the essential amino acids in the ideal balance, vitamin B12, and iron. These are all nutrients that many vegetarians suffer deficiencies from.

You're still growing, so you should give your body the best it can get. Eat meat.

its really easy. you can basically eat everything you eat now with a little modification. Watch out for things that have chicken broth in them.. that can be sneaky.

You're an idiot.

stop thinking. you may hurt yourself
