Which dietary STARCH is healthier?!


Question: Which dietary STARCH is healthier?
Which source of dietary starch should be healthier (either RICE or POTATOES)?

I prefer eating rice as my staple. Potatoes or pastas give me stomach cramps. :-(
And - with rice dishes, should I prep each in THE STANDARD (steaming) method or can I gain the same benefit by cooking it differently (in a soup, broiler, or else)?

Answers:

Rice is rice, no matter how you cook it! It has the most flavor by itself if you cook it in broth or stock instead of plain water, but it is also good and just as beneficial if used in soups and gumbos, casseroles, and cold salads. You might also try eating different grains such as barley and quinoa. Each has cooking instuctions on the package, and as with rice, the most flavor can be achieved using stock or broth in lieu of water. Happy eating!
