Why does this phenomenon occur?!
When an omnivore asks a stupid question, most of the answerers here point out the fact that it was a stupid question, or accuse the asker of being a troll.
Answers:
I agree that part of it is due to vegetarians sticking together.
But I think the larger part of it is due to the fact when vegetarians see an opportunity to attack a non-vegetarian, they are going to make the most of it.
Being able to do so is one of the most appealing benefits to being a vegetarian.
This is the vegan/vegetarian section. Some people may really be that stupid, but because everyone who is legitimately answering questions in a non-rude way has something in common, those dumb questions get answered nicely, just in case it is real. When a meat eater posts in here, naturally he/she would be jumped all over, that is what every legitimate answerer in this section is against, plain doesn't like, or some other good reason. If you ask a dumb question about meat in the hunting section, I bet you'll find kinder answers. I bet if a vegetarian asked some dumb, obviously offensive to meat eater, type question in the hunting section, they'd get jumped all over. But how many vegetarians are over in the hunting section causing trouble? Not many, they're in the vegetarian section asking questions about vegetarian subjects, where they belong.
Or....we could all just stop asking dumb questions with offensive digs at people of differing opinions, and realize were not suppose to all have the same ideals and views. That would be a lot easier.
Vegetarian for 12 years
Because someone might really be that naive but is still trying to help the cause. A few meat-eaters who tend to comment and ask questions in this section do so for the sole purpose of ridiculing vegetarians. Its so obvious. 90% of the time I just ignore those people. But like I've said, if you're respectful towards me, I have no reason to be rude.
It's the Vegetarian/Vegan section, not the Omnivore section? Some omnivores (I think everyone knows who they are) come on here just to insult veg*s and not to understand the Veg lifestyle.
Notice how I didn't accuse you of being a troll.
Maybe we're a bit touchy here because of the high number of wonkers who bait us. Vegos are very supportive of each other, as it's a pretty major thing to have in common.
I noticed an equal amount of flamer answers to omnivores' questions on here as well as veggies' questions.
How about when a veg*n gives an answer that is false but everyone still gives it thumbs up. Its ignorance.
Groups stick together. And most of the vegans/vegetarians here in this section are 13 with no common sense.
