Vegetarians start not eating any meat (including fish and poultry) and slaughter by-products (gelatin and animal rennet are good examples) and can go all the way up too not eating any animal products whatsoever (aka strict/pure vegetarian or what some people falsely consider veganism)
Some vegetarians will eat eggs or dairy or both. Also some might not wear leather or fur or use products made from animals but have not made the full step towards veganism.

"The word 'veganism' denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, including humans and the environment.
In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

Raw "vegan" start eating mostly (75% or above) uncooked non animal foods or non animal foods "cooked" under 110-118 degrees Fahrenheit though many go 100% raw. However this would actually be a raw strict/pure vegetarian. This diet can be quite healthy as many foods are healthier raw and some are better raw.

Vegan because animals are not property

They are both technically accepted as "Vegetarians" (no animal foods) though vegans extend it further to include not consuming dairy and eggs (all animal products "acceptable in a "regular" vegetarian diet) and also other aspects beyond food such as clothing, furniture etc. The reasons are not relevant, just the practice of the lifestyle.

the old joke: difference is that vegan is spelled with half the letters but have twice the attitude.

Vegetarians will not eat just plain meat, like hamburger or steak or thing like that. Now vegans are that way sorta the will not eat meat OR other animal products like dairy and egg. A lot of people also say that a vegetarian eats fish. NO! They don't that is a PES- KA- TEAR ( like tearing apart) -E-AN.

I am a vegetarian.. Very hard to resist McDonald sometimes..... :)
Guilty pleasure from the past... :)

The difference is that vegetarians dont eat meat and vegans dont touch or eat animal products. NOTHING can come from animals. But you can grow your own eggs and stuff like that if they arn't in pain ;)

My question

Vegetarians eat no animal flesh or products of animal slaughter. Vegans don't use any animal products so a person can be a strict vegetarian and eat no eggs or dairy and still not be vegan if they wear leather and silk etc.

a vegetarian doesn't eat any meat or meat product(chicken broth beef broth...)
and a vegan doesn't eat any meat or dairy product like milk or cheese

a vegetarian will eat animal products, such as milk, cheese and marshmallows (gelatin). vegans won't eat any animal products.

wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia has information

on vegetarianism at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetariani…

and on veganism at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veganism

http://www.wikipedia.org

Just to add to what Samantha has said that is no eggs, no cheese, no butter, no milk or cream. No leather in footwear at all. Nothing in your life that is derived from animals.

Usually vegans are more strict. Vegetarians don't eat meat, but vegans don't eat meat or animal biproducts (animal biproducts include milk, other dairy products, eggs, honey, etc)

Vegetarian = Dont eat meat
Vegan = Doesnt eat meat or dairy products.

vegetarians dont eat meat like pork and beef and all that stuff. vegan is where people dont eat meat or meat byproducts such ad yogurt cheese and milk.
hope i helped

Vegans don't eat anything that contains or was made by animals like milk, eggs, cheese, etc... Vegetarians do :)

Vegetarians don't eat meat, vegans don't eat or use any animal products whatsoever.

vegan is when you dont eat anything from animals ex; eggs, milk ...they dont use any animal products

vegetarian refuses all meat and fish, does not eat animals, or anything from animals.
vegan is that and much more extreme, anything related to animals is a complete no-no to them, even if it's not food...
′... I think
