Against Animal Killing/Cruelty?!

Question: Against Animal Killing/Cruelty?
So, I Don't Like The Fact Of Killing Animals For Food. I Want To Become A Vegan. I Tell My Mom That I Hate The Fact Of Killing Animals For Food. And She Says: "Well, Your Not Old Enough To Make Your Own Decisions, (I'm 13..) And You Live In My House So Your Gunnah Eat Meat. Your Not Going Vegan." And Then 5 minutes Later, My Mom And Her Boyfriend Decide To Watch A Show About A Pig Farm. And They Sowed The Pigs Being Hung Upside Down, And Choking On Their Own Blood, And Also How The People Skin Them. I Started Crying, it Was So Horrible. What Can I Do To Have My Mom Agree With Me? I Feel Terrible For These Animals.

Answers:

When I was 11 and I went veg my parents refused me too and said the most ignorant things. I'm 13 now and after two years I went from taking grief about "there are starving people" and "where will you get your protein" to having very supportive parents who now have very vegetarian diets as well. Your 13 and you are old enough to make your own choices. Your mom saying that you can't make your own choices cause your 13 insults me because I'm 13 and she's saying I can't make my own choices in a way. Your mom can't baby you and keep you in a bouble. Your growing up and you need to learn how to make your own choices. Tell her that. Also tell her the negitive effects meat production has on the planet, the health benifits of this diet and why your doing this. Show her videos of factory farms on YouTube. Ask to just try it. If she's considering you she'll let you do this.

13 year old vegetarian. Start by going vegetarian and after a while go vegan.

She's not going to agree with you. But, you can try to comprimise with her. I think she would be more accepting of you being a vegetarian than a vegan. It's a much easier lifestyle to accommodate. You can also offer to help cook the meals and take more responsibility for preparing your own food. You can't expect her to do all the work just so you can change your diet.

In the end if she won't comprimise you will just have to wait until you either have a job and can buy your own food or move out.

Maybe your Mom does not agree with you because you have this annoying habit of capitalizing every word when you type. Might also be a sign that you are not a very good student and this is her way of saying "stop with that damn nonsense and start studying for your English grammar class".

I don't think she does not agree with you per se but maybe she just has a different way of looking at it. Their death means food, to you it means something to cry over. Get it? If you can't understand that, she's right, you aren't old enough, both in age and maturity.

You can start by not starting each word you type with a capital letter.

Its just your opinion that killing animals for food is wrong. Obviously your mom doesn't agree with you. She pays the bills and is the parent. If you want to become a vegan get a job and pay for your own food, or wait till you grow up and move out.

Your Mom Is Absolutely Right. You're Not Old Enough To Make That Decision. Besides, Vegans Kill And/Or Exploit Animals Every Single Day Anyways, Whether They Admit It Or Not.
I Think You Should Listen To Your Mother, And Just Focus On Your Education. Especially Spelling, Grammar And Typing.

Just refuse to eat meat when she puts it in front of you...she'll get the point sooner or later. I don't know why she's kicking up such a fuss, but be strong! You can do it! =D

she's not gonna agree with you and she doesn't have to. if you don't want to eat meat nobody can force feed you...

get a dog, and feed your meat to it

I Don't Know What To Tell You.

I don't know what to tell you either :( I really feel for you. My parents are also kinda indifferent to animal suffering They like little dogs b/c of their cuteness but don't even treat the larger breeds that well. My German Shepherd is outside in a winter storm because my mom doesn't want him the house :( I hate it but what can I do? I sneak him in at night....I'm that evil. I am a vegan but college student living at home currently who buys her own groceries.

I'm not telling you to rebel against your parents either. Maybe talk to them and do your research and show them that you are serious about wanting to go vegan. Show how healthy it can be and volunteer to help with cooking or start learning to cook your own meals. Maybe check out some vegan teen websites for advice.

The same thing happened to me but it wasnt easy but at the grocery store i found a brand called "morning star" in a little green box and i convinced my mom to let me try it and she liked it too . itwas ckicken nuggets made from mushrooms and other vegies and beans that give you protein without involving animals. by the way in cas you didnt know, vegan means you dont eat meat or dairy products and vegetarian is refusing meat. or if you hav trouble with people teasing you for your decision you could say something like "at least i dont kill animals for pleasure' and just walk away. :) im glad of my choice of being a vegetarian because my skin started glowing and i felt naturally happier because i wasnt consuming the chemicals from meat production.
