I need to understand this about bananas?!

Question: I need to understand this about bananas?
I keep reading that Bananas have one of the highest content as far as fiber in fruits yet whenever I eat one, I become constipated. Also I've always been told and from my experience is that when you have diarrhea a banana is best for this particular problem. Can someone help me understand this contradiction?

Answers:

Bananas are complicated. They can cause constipation, especially if they are not fully ripe (with black spots). The pectin can draw in water and expand, the starch can be blocking, and a few other factors come into play. Fully ripe bananas have some enzymes that help prevent this.

Here's a good article that explains it: http://stoolhealth.com/do-bananas-cause-…

Bananas are high in fibre. You only become constipated because you aren't drinking enough water. The fibre in the banana does help prevent diarrhea, but if you let the fibre dry, it will clump up in your large intestines, making you constipated.

Don't just "hear" something. Do some research.

No, asking a bunch of teenie-boppers on Y!A is not research.

Fiber, unless you're used to it, will slow you down. Prunes or their juice works to loosen your bowels.

Your body must take it in differently. Not everyone processes food the same way.
