Is it so bad if I eat meat 2 times per week?!

Question: Is it so bad if I eat meat 2 times per week?
I'm vegan 5 days of the week, but on the weekend I eat meat. I believe that I am healthier this way, and it keeps me sane. M-F I eat zero grains just squash, beans, broccoli, green beans. sweet potato, carrots, and onions mixed together in a soup flavored with cayenne pepper and accent. I might actually have some fried chicken on Saturday, and a meat lovers pizza on Super Bowl. What do you guys think?

Answers:

I understand what you're saying. You're not saying that "you are vegan." You're saying that you "consume a vegan diet 5 days of the week." On the weekends you eat meat.

This is my 3rd week of being a vegetarian. Actually the way you described is the way I use to eat, before becoming a vegetarian. I would have "meat free week days."

I would only consume meat on the weekends. I did this for weeks and months. Finally I decided to take the plunge into becoming a full fledged vegetarian. What you're doing isn't bad, it's actually healthy.

You're doing your body a huge favor by not consuming meat everyday. Eventually you might want to go full vegan. Good luck to you if you decide to.

For me personally as a strict vegan, I obviously wouldn't do that. I do not consume any meat or any products that comes from an animal, nor do I used household or beauty products that contain any ingredients that are derived from animals. I also do not use any leather products, etc.

If you're eating a vegan diet through the week for health reasons, then I find it perfectly understandable for you to eat meat on the weekends or whenever you choose. But when you're making a lifestyle choice like becoming a vegan for religious reasons or if you're passionate about animal rights, then I do think it's really inappropriate to be eating meat on the weekends because you wouldn't be sticking to your convictions. But it's not my place, nor is it anyone else's, to judge you for the decisions you make about what to eat and what not to eat. You should know that you can't truly call yourself a vegan if you don't stick to that lifestyle 100% of the time, though.

As a vegan surgeon, I'm constantly having to administer drugs to patients that I obviously know have been tested on lab rats and mice, and that's one part of a vegan lifestyle that I just have to accept, unfortunately. I love my career and have put in too much money, time, and extremely hard work to change it at this point and I'm hoping that in the medical community we can reach the point where we don't have to test out drugs on innocent animals in order to help save human lives.

It's not bad. You are leaving far less of a cruelty-mark than those who eat meat every day. You could be called a Flexitarian, a term coined about 10 years ago. There are lots of people who are Vegetarians mostly, but eat meat in social situations. (like you said with the pizza during the Super Bowl)

Good work.

No it is not so bad. Occasional meals of pizza or fried chicken won't endanger your health.

Unfortunately, you have tarnished the sacred title of "vegan".
As several of the other answers demonstrate, you have offended the other vegans, who no longer consider you one of "them".

You're doin more than most for the vegan causes....

I mean, I don't ever see myself eating meat again. I don't need it. I got food that is better than meat to eat so I don't want it.

I think that 5 days vegan is better than 4 and that is better than 3 and so on..

3 years.

You aren't vegan. It doesn't matter what you think keeps you healthier- words have definitions. If you eat meat, at all, you aren't vegetarian, let alone vegan.

Someone who only has sex on weekends cannot claim to be a virgin.

Hate to tell you, but if you eat meat you are NOT in the least bit vegan. Perhaps if you didn't limit yourself so much on your "vegan" days, you wouldn't go for the meat so quickly. I really hope you're joking.

you can do as you please
but you are NOT a vegan
a vegan by definition is one who eats no animal or animal by products
including meat dairy fish eggs etc
some even go as far as not wearing leather and wool etc

I think you should enjoy it. Nobody says you have to eat healthy for all 7 days to have a healthy lifestyle.

Well, I don't think you can call yourself "vegan" if you eat meat on a regular basis.

That being said, who cares?

Strangers over the Internet don't care what you eat..

Thats fine....
Dont get why you need to ask, its your diet.

There is nothing wrong with eating meat! In case you forgot, meat is healthy! XD The average ounce of meat has 6-8 grams of protein which supports your immune system and builds muscles! So no, it isn't bad if you eat meat two times per week! It would be better if you ate more, actually! But I understand with the vegan thing you aren't supposed to. Still, unless you have a reason to not eat meat, why not?

your body needs a better source of protein than just dairy
it is good to keep alittle meat in your diet, and its ok that you call yourself a vegan. your just trying to keep your body healthy. good job.
yours always

It's okay as long as any meat you eat is made from 100% real vegans.
