How do you transition from eating meat to being vegetarian?!

Question: How do you transition from eating meat to being vegetarian?
I don't really eat beef much anyway but there are quite a few meals i like with it in it. I just saw the cows at the slaughterhouse on oprah and it just really affected me because I love animals.. I don't know how long this will last of not eating meat but I'm pretty sure I could keep it down to 2 days a week if I couldn't stick with eating it at all. Chicken and fish are my favs but I don't know how to go cutting meat for awhile...

I'm a very strict vegan, and for me personally, reading "Skinny B * i * t * c * h" was what made it the easiest to stop eating meat. Because of that book when I see raw meat now I now think to myself, "That is a rotting piece of animal carcass." It's gross when you think of it that way, and for me, that's what made eating meat so unappealing.

I stopped eating meat and dairy cold turkey, and that works for some people. For others, gradually cutting out meat is a better option. You could start trying out meat substitutes mixed in with your regular food. Using things like tofu and tempeh mixed in with your chicken fajitas will help you start to acquire a taste for them. They're strange to get used to at first, but once you start cooking with them and learn how to season them properly, you can really grow to love them.

The food you can find in nature is amazing. There are amazing fruits and vegetables and incredible seasonings and you just have to take the time to explore them. I've provided some of my favorite vegetarian/vegan lifestyle websites for you so maybe you can start trying out some new things.

I took the drug addict approach and weaned myself off week by week.

Week 1: Eliminate red meat.
Week 2: Eliminate poultry.
Week 3: Eliminate pork.
Week 4: Eliminate seafood.
Week 5: Eliminate soda/coffee.
Week 6: Eliminate dairy/eggs.

After a short time I found that I didn't miss it and it wouldn't kill me if I didn't eat animals or animal by-products again.

I Just transition from a meat eater to a vegetarian and what i did was start slowely eat only 1 meal of ,eat week and then eat less and less or you could start off like i did go to the grocery store and buy all kind of non meat foods and snacks and sweets you can also eat out too alot of restaruants and fast foods have vergetarian menu like Bakers, jack in the box 2 for 1 dollar dollars are veggie meat tacos

I did it slowly. First, I gave up mammals. (I used to say "red meat," but too many people consider pork "white meat.") Then, I gave up poultry. I gave up fish last. It was the easiest. I never liked the stuff.

When I started, I would get turkey bacon and ground chicken instead of beef. I also cut back on how often I ate meat.

Another idea: switch to certified humane meats from farms with mobile abbatoirs. Less traumatizing for the animals.

If you keep the creatures in mind, it's easy to stop eating flesh. If you really enjoy meat but want to avoid contributing to the slaughtering of innocent animals for the sake of your taste buds then try veg*n meat substitutes. I think you'll be surprised at how similar they are to the real thing.

You could try cutting out one kind of meat at a time, and replace each with a meatless alternative. Try out some new foods that you might not have otherwise considered. Once you start exploring all of the other options out there, you'll see how easy it is to go without meat. Good luck! :)

chicken was hardest for me to live, one cause it taste so good and second is in almost everything you eat, personally for me it was easy since i dont like food i meat i ate but i mainly eat junk food so now i going healthy

I just quit eating meat. This lasted a few months. About a year later, I again just quit. So far, this has lasted 37 years. I don't think I'll backslide this time.

quiting meat items

The thing you saw on Opera was created by conspiracy theorists. Cows actually like being fattened up and turned into burgers. They feel that it helps them continue their legacy as the most tasty animals in the world.

I asked a cow one time.
