It's hard to get a the nutrients and vitamins you need being a vegetarian
I don't know why you're worried about not getting enough vitamins and nutrients- seeing as there are FAR more of those in plant foods compared to the single item of dead cooked meat.
Cooked meat has barely the same nutirents as raw meat anyway- all the protein is cooked and hardeneed into lumps which the body cannot leech out- so the crumbles of meat go ungigested through the colon and don't break down any more- the myth about protein in meat is outstanding.
Raw fruit and veg have more nutirents- cooking lessens the amount of living nutirents. The longer you cook something the more damage to the vitamins you do.
Meat- you can cook it for ten hours and it's still OK to eat.
Fruit and veg, if you cook it for ten hours you'd soon know about it- it would be slush.
Pasta, and whole grains give you time-released energy- they are carbohydrates- and in unrefined form they are good to eat ( IE, don't eat white stuff, eat brown and wholemeal pasta, bread, rice).
Meat is nototrious for givng you colon cancer and high blood pressure and heart disease. You will be running aournd with pounds of undigested rotting meat inside you.
MEat has absolutely NO fibre, and barely much nutrient value once it's cooked and heated and certainly no value when it's processed ( salami, sliced ham, hot dogs, bologna).
The whole of Caesars army were vegetarian- they were the strongest army in history.
You can have a healthy diet both eating or not eating meat. Going vegetarian won't necessarily make you healthier, but it could do. Some meats are definitely less healthy than others, but the less variety your diet has the more you need to make sure that you are getting everything that you need in your diet. Some of the vegetarian meat substitutes definitely have a lot of bonuses/pro's over some of the real meats out there.
It does take some work to make sure you get all of the nutrients you need, but this is the case no matter what diet you choose.
There is nothing you can get in meat that you can't get elsewhere. It is only a myth that you can only get B12 from meat. I get mine from soy milk.
When you plan your vegetarian diet just be sure you get enough protein. Beans, nuts & nut butters, tofu, tempeh and lentils are all good sources if protein.
Eat lots of dark leafy greens to get enough iron.
Vegetarianism can be VERY healthy, if done properly.
I don't get how people can just ask ''Is being a vegetarian healthy?''. There are millions of vegetarians in the world, if it wasn't healthy they'd all be sick.
But besides that, yes it is healthy! :D I'm an athlete too (not a hardcore one) and I eat a lot of pasta. I'm fine :D Being a vegetarian is thought to (I'm not going to say proved, although I'm pretty sure it has, because I don't have an article or anything) be healthier than being an omnivore. If you're worried about getting vitamins and such just do some research on what vitamins are important in your diet, and find good sources for them. The things people worry about are protein, b12, iron, blah blah. And there are plenty of good foods that you can get them from. Good luck!
Vegetarian for 4 years. :)
The research I read was a German, 20 year, peer reviewed study. It seemed to say being a "Moderate Vegetarian," was healthiest. (less disease, longer life span, etc) I'm not sure how the individuals who consider themselves "Moderate Vegetarians" define that... do they eat meat once a month? (which I would call a Flexitarian, though that term was only coined like a decade ago) Do they call themselves that if they eat cheese and eggs, but no meat? (an ovo-lacto-vegetarian) The research didn't seem to get specific. But, it did follow Vegans, Moderate Vegetarians, and people who eat Meat in their diet.
There are a lot of inconclusive studies as to whether eating meat or not is healthier for the body. If you do decide to become a vegetarian, you would have to supplement your food with protein shakes and vitamins to make sure our body is getting the right amount of nutrients. If you don't eat a lot of red meat now anyway, it sounds like you're treating your body better than 99% of people. In my opinion, moderation is better than cutting things out completely.
You can be healthier if you, you know, eat veggies and whole grains. Since you like pasta, go for whole wheat, and only eat it about three times a week. Experiment with brown rice, quinoa, and millet. Try to restrict cheese to maybe three times a week, that way you aren't depending on it too much. Cheese is very fattening. And instead of depending on processed soy meats, try tempeh, tofu, and a lot of beans. (Beans are super-cheap and the best, healthiest source of protein).
If you get a vegan cookbook, you can learn a new way of cooking. I recommend "The Kind Diet", "The Happy Herbivore", and "1000 Vegan Recipes".
Vegan
yes u would probly b healthier and it would clean your system and make u process food more efficiant giveing you more energy but just try to stay away from vegie foods that r like procesd fifty time with like synthetic stuff and cornsyrup in it its very easy all u loose is protien wich is found in plenty of foods not hard at all to replace theres a supplement u can taake to help your hair nd nails grow because they might not be as strong if u were eating meat either way meet takes at least twice as long to digest than plant matter some people say if u dont take this certain pilll wen your a vegitarian youll die or b unhealthy or sumthing theyr idiots go for it
No, it would be healthy to watch your diet.
Depriving your body of an entire group of food, one that is rich in vitamin B12, iron, and high-quality protein, doesn't sound like too good of an idea to me.
Well it is a two sided cion really. It is healthy for some and not for other. Everone is different
Aka: It is you own chiose and if you eat the right foods when being a 'vega' you will stay healthy.
my PHD in life
not eating meat would give u a lack of protein. if u don't like meat, it wont kill u not to eat it though. just find another source of protein.
I think that it doesn't matter,if u eat junk food i mean. I u eat junk, being vegetarian wont help. I think u should just eat healthy.Good luck!!!! xD
