do you like to go to the zoo?!
Answers:
I confess, I don't know how to feel about zoos anymore. I love to see the animals, but I don't know anything about them being there. Like, were they just captured out of the wild, bred in captivity, or are they being rehabilitated there? I definitely wouldn't approve of anything being captured, but the latter two seem a bit more acceptable.
I like going to the zoo too, but I think I should feel more guilty about it. Maybe I could talk to the folks that run the zoos and see where their animals come from and why they're there.
Edit: Thanks for the information, Mel!

Zoo = no.
Wildlfe Preservation Trust = yes
The difference between the two:
Zoos are outdated and mostly cruel. At a Wildlfe Preservation Trust you not only get to look at the animals and learn about them but you know that the money you give does not line the pockets of those just using caged animals for profit. Instead it goes to continuing to keep a species alive that mankind is otherwise destroying through ignorance and greed so that future generations, like your kids, and theirs, can see these creatures in their natural habitiat, the wild, forever. Something that a zoo would never do.
Now doesn't that make sense!
Yes and no. Yes because it is the only way I (and many others too) would see these animals in person. Zoos also educate people about animals, and tell us about the ones in danger of extinction. Some animals are so in danger that there is more of them in zoos than in the wild. Yes this is sad. Zoos also take in animals that would otherwise be killed because there is nowhere else for them to go.
No because I look at these animals and think they should be in their natural habitat.
I have been to two zoos. Baltimore, MD, and The zoo in DC. This was a long time ago. I am of two minds about zoos. I don't like seeing wild creatures living in cages. But I fear that someday, the only places where these creatures will still live.
yesss.i love to look at the penguins.they are my favorite:D
i go to the dallas zoo.that zoo is amazing.i love feeding the giraffes.:D
I'm pretty much anti-zoo ... Flamingos in Minnesota? Polar Bears in Florida? Talk about animal cruelty. Zoos are an outdated learning venue. (And no, I'm not a vegetarian).
No. My hard-earned dollars are not going to the captivity and suffering of these poor animals. Do as you will though.
I prefer the dog pound myself. ALL the doggies are so happy to see you and they all look so healthy and loved.
Not particularly.
They could bore a hole to Australia.
It's all right. And yes they do offer protection for some endangered species.
Yeah.. But sometimes I feel a little bit mean for the animals.
yess :)
