What should I make for dinner?!

Question: What should I make for dinner?
I'm leaning toward soup, but I'm open to new ideas.

I don't have a lot of fancy things right now. Just a lot of staples and a freezer full of veggies. I don't have potatoes. And I'm allergic to garlic.

Make a pot of vegetable soup. Healthy and delicious.

Don't worry about using frozen veggies. It's winter where I live and fresh fruit and vegetables are sparse and overpriced.

I'd say a nice vegetable rice or pasta soup with bread and perhaps some fruit for dessert.

Just boil water with veggie bouillon for the base. Cook the rice for about 25 minutes then add the frozen vegetables. Boil an additional 10 to 15 minutes and serve. It's simple, tasty and quick.

I have a thing for tofu lately. I freeze it over night the day I buy it and put it in the fridge to that (helps the texture). Then I drain it very well! After that, I cube it and place it in a bowl of soy milk and flour. I then transfer it to a dinner plate covered in shake and bake or breadcrumbs. I coat the tofu while I am heating olive oil in a frying pan. When the pan is very hot, I drop the tofu cubes into it and fry them until they are golden brown.

I serve the fried tofu with whatever veggies I have on hand. Rice would go nicely with it too, but I don't always have the patience to wait 30 minutes for rice to cook.

Good luck to you in your dinner endeavors and ignore the haters.

Hey Dr,

Just ignore Dot, he's a bit of an egoist (obviously).

When I was pregnant I was soooo sick for the whole 8 months. I could only eat toasted cheese sandwiches, milk, and clemintines. I have no idea how my hubby stayed alive because no one was allowed to cook anything in my house! It's funny how sensitive our noses and tummy's get isn't it?

Anyways, I have a great moroccan lentil soup recipe that I love. If you are still able to handle things with flavour and scent then you might like it. It's basically onions and ginger sauteed, then add garam masala, and turmeric, a large can of tomatoes (or from your freezer), veggie stock, dried lentils, a can of chick peas, and cook til done. Add some small whole wheat pasta and then finish with spinach, lemon juice and cilantro. You can certainly add other veggies and spices as you like, it's very versatile.

Well!
Sounds very much to me like you're experiencing a 'can't be arsed with cooking, let's just do soup' mode!
Soup's a lot more filling than at first thought, just check the label for garlic and salt, have your soup and go shopping for a larger meal tomorrow, relax with your soup tonight :)

Sticky rice and curry.

Make the rice, with dots of oil in the surface of the water ( ratio 2 cups rice to four cups water, get boiling water, then add rice and bring down to simmer, add drops of oil/margerine and cover for 20 mins), Add curry to oil in a pan and make gravy, then whatever veg.

i would just make a simple stirfry or maybe soem lettace wraps, you can just make a simple asian dressing (soysauce, lime juice, brown sugar, ginger, and a little chili paste )

Ignore those bozos.

Just throw everything into a skillet with a little extra virgin olive oil and soy sauce and see what happens!

Something with eggs in it always makes a good dinner!
