No because egg may convert into Chicken later

Yes it is a vegetarian food.
Eggs that are sold for human consumption have not ( usually ) been fertilized.
They are a by product of chickens and no animal has to DIE so that you may eat them.

Sometimes a rogue fertilized egg slips through and that's when you get an eyeball or bit of blood in the egg ( the start of a brain).

THey have the potential to become an animal if they were fertilized.

No animal DIEs for you to eat them, so yes they are vegetarian food.

They are NOT vegan food.

Vegan means anything that's had an animal in the involvement. For different reasons, people won't eat ANY animally involved product, which, when you see "meet your meat" videos etc, is a real consideration- because even milk and cheese and eggs, mean a lot of cruelty and having the animal do things they don't want to do- pain and such.

Anyhow, yes eggs are vegetarian.

In most western countries, eggs are considered vegetarian. However in India and some parts of Asia they are not, as a result of the 'potential' of the egg to turn into a chicken. (Yes, today's Western farming methods result in most eggs not being fertilized as male chickens are eliminated from the equation, but the practice is probably the result of more traditional farming methods where there would have been a good likelihood of fertilization).

There is a term 'Asian Vegetarian' (you can ask for Asian Vegetarian meals on some airlines) which generally means that dairy products are fine, but eggs are not.

Hope this answers your question!

To begin, vegetarians do not eat dead (edit: or live) animals. If someone has a dead fish on his plate and calling himself a vegetarian, he is one confused omnivore.

Yes, many vegetarians eat eggs. Eggs are not baby chickens, but are a female chicken's period. A female's egg (of any species,) unfertilized by semen, is not life.

Many vegetarians also consume dairy.
Here is a rundown from the vegetarian society:
______________
VEGETARIANS – THE BASICS

Vegetarians don’t eat:
? Meat
? Poultry
? Game
? Fish, shellfish and crustacea
? Slaughterhouse by-products such as gelatine, rennet and animal fats.

Vegetarians do eat:
? Vegetables, pulses, grains, bread, cheese, eggs, fruit, nuts, cereals and seeds....

People who don’t eat red meat but do eat chicken or fish are making a very important first step, but they aren’t vegetarians. We usually call such people meat-reducers.

People who avoid all animal products, including eggs, milk, dairy products and honey as well as meat, poultry and fish are called vegans.

It's not a meat, but some vegetarians have ethical issues about the egg. E.G it had the potential to become a chicken, bu it is being consumed instead.
Others aren't so concerned.
Even so, there are egg less cakes and recipes for those intolerant to egg or those who are certain types of vegetarians

some people might not consider it vegetarian, those who are of orthodox beliefs n values. however egg is supposed to be a vegetarian food until an unless a chicken pops out of it. lol. people who eat it consider themselves as eggitarians. even adds come on TV advisinh our population how important an egg is for a healthy body. I hope this helps TC

If the egg is laid by a Hen which didn't have any physical union with any Cock, then it is purely veg becoz then it wont be having any life element in it. These days as thousands of hen lay eggs in poultry farms without even coming into contact with Cocks but if you get an Egg from any such place where there is a Cock staying besides hens, the egg procured from that place would always be non veg item.

Egg is not a vegetarian dish. It comes under non -vegetarian as it comes from chicken. Egg has life embeded inside it so its non-vegetarian

i m vegetarian.it means related to vegitable.it is 100% non veg.

Not really because the egg turns into a chicken which is meat so probably no.
BUT a lot of vegetarians eat it!

Not really. It's considered a meat.http://www.mypyramid.gov/pyramid/meat.ht…
