I want to be a vegetarian?!

Question: I want to be a vegetarian?
Is there anything i NEED to know?

Answers:

You will need to eat a healthy, balanced diet. You can get everything your body needs with a veggie diet and don't let ignorant people tell you otherwise.
The vegetarian society is a good place to start looking for information on nutrition etc.

I have been veggie for more than half my life, have raised my daughter with a vegetarian lifestyle and we are two of the healthiest people I know.

You should do research on the internet to find out about foods, such as grains, that can replace your daily portion of meat.
It's important that you find foods with protein to compensate !
Find recipe books for vegetarians :)!

I think I'll try going a week being a vegetarian (:

You need to eat a variety of different foods. Try to not eat junk food. And you may need to take daily vitamin supplements..they make special ones for vegetarians. Protein is hard to get, so you could take protein supplements. But if you take protein, be aware if you don't exercise while taking it that you will gain weight. Good luck

You need to know about nutrition, know how to read ingredients and know what they are, etc. Govegan.com has a lot of information.

Bible Man doesn't know that protein is also found in beans, nuts, etc etc etc. I can't understand why people who know nothing about nutrition even bother coming on here saying,"Protein is only found in meat". It's complete BS.

You'll hear from idiots that B 12 can't be found in plant food. Completely false. Seaweed, which is sold in health food stores, has it, and you can put it in salads, soups, etc. Notice that chicken with fattening BBQ sauce that he's eating...

You'll hear the same about iron from the same idiots. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/vegetable…

While many on here preach about meat being high in protein and such, why are 3/4 of meat eaters so fat? They aren't using the proteins found in meats. They are storing them as fat. As for the link that Cliff posted..I'm vegan, doing very well, and follow my diet strictly. Please take note that it's easy to see that Cliff is overweight. It shows in his face.

Yes. There's plenty you should know. Rather than wasting time typing it all out, I'll just refer you to these links:

@Sammy Gabbie GO VEGAN!, Nice try, but that isn't actually me in my profile picture. How stupid do you think I am? I have a 6-pack if you must know, and my doctor says my cholesterol levels are excellent.

I recommend going to the Vegetarian & Vegan Society website.
And buy their wall chart.
Go for it

Vegan for many years and totally fit & healthy

Just that being a vegetarian you don't get enough protein because protein comes from meat.

Don't be a vegetarian! I'm not saying that ur not healthy when ur a vegetarian but u dont get enough protean. Protean is in meat. Without much protean, u can lead to bad sicknesses.
