My mom is mad because I didn't eat a burger?!

Question: My mom is mad because I didn't eat a burger?
I signed a peta pledge to be a vegetarian for thirty days, and my mom bought me a burger and french fries. I ate the fries not the burger and now shes mad at me, and thinks i'm becoming anorexic? what kind of things can I eat for the next thirty days, or what do you eat as a vegetarian?

Educate her.

Big, hearty, fat men in India are vegetarian. You are not becoming vegetarian.
Yes, show her the video and inform her that meat is also very expensive.

It's the most expensive thing on the shopping list. You're taking an educated path to being vegetarian. The health you can get from doing this is better than eating meat.
If she bought you burger and fries, I'm thinking she is not the best person to ask about nutrition.
There's nothing really wrong with a burger and fries, but it's not really healthy food is it?

She's just scared and uninformed and probably has that weird American mindset that unless you are stuffing a dead beast into your mouth, you have eight hours left alive before you fade into a slow death.
I don't understand this, but I think it's the brainwashing.

I have been Vegetarian all my entire life (i just hate the taste to be honest)

but i would be careful as to listening to PETA, they are EXTREMELY biased and often mis-inform their audience and only tell the very most horrific things they can find, without also adding the fact that generally most cases do not show the same outcomes.

They are extremely biased and only show the very most disturbing parts of their stories, and not the other 98%.

that being said, i would try to educate your mother on your decision to just try it for the 30 days, which i think is a great thing for anybody to try out!

I like peanut butter and other nut butters or you can just eat a handful of nuts. Also, if there is a blender in the house, smoothies are easy to make and you can buy soy protein powder. Those are 2 easy ways to make sure you are getting your protein as vegetables and fruits and grains aren't a problem. And, maybe try to explain it to your mom.

Did you tell your mother about your pledge to be vegetarian *before* she paid for the burger? I recommend you eat a healthier vegetarian diet other than just French Fries. How about salads, stir fries, vegetable/bean soups, and bean dishes? It's important to make a diet nutritarian, not just vegetarian. I highly recommend you read anything Joel Fuhrman, M.D. writes on healthy eating, and then share that info with your mother. His website: http://www.drfuhrman.com/library/foodpyr… His books are totally worth reading as well.

Well, she did pay for it. Maybe she felt as if you didn't appreciate it

In China, around elders, leaving a few grains of rice in your bowl is offensive O_O

After all that food is going to waste and someone worked hard to buy it.

We are very spoiled in America.

OH! Never do anything because PETA says so.

Show her WWW.FACTORYFARMING.COM to see how animals are treated...

Then show her WWW.PCRM.ORG for the health issues associated with eating too much meat.

She'll get over it.

Vegetarians eat the same things everyone else does,
minus meat.

Tell her about it. You can eat salads...rice with beans. Lots of things, go on google (:

eat TOFU, beans, and etc for nutrient.
