Can you substitute regular milk with soy milk when baking?!

Question: Can you substitute regular milk with soy milk when baking?
I was gonna bake a cake today but we ran out of regular milk at home and we only have soy milk so I was wondering if you can substitute it and if you can, does it taste any different?

Answers:

I have substituted soy milk and rice milk in cakes for years with great success. Just remember that most soy milks are sweetened and flavored, so you might need to make small adjustments. Otherwise, I have noticed no difference in taste.

In my experiments, I've substituted soy egg nog for milk during the Christmas holidays, and chocolate soy for a mild chocolate flavor... tasty!

Apparently, soy milk, rice milk, and almond milk are all easy substitutes when baking.

Yes you can. It tastes a little better IMO actually. For baking pastries and sweets, I suggest trying cocoanut milk sometime.

i made cheese cake with soy milk instead of regular. it was actaully BETTER. it was nice and fluffy

If you want it to come out funny (not right).

Read the articles that the vegetarians and vegans here don't want you to see:

Yes, but what are you going to do about it rising? If you're a vegan, then you'll need something to help the cake stay together and rise.
