Yes they are. Slandering my good name.
Yes, they are one of the very few that are entirely safe. I eat them on a regular basis because they are a quick and cheap meal that that remains veggie friendly. Fast food hardly ever meets that requirement!! Try the peanut butter and the white chocolate macadamia. (the latter is a bit on the smaller/less filling side but it is very good and works well for breakfast or a snack) If you are ever in a pinch and need a larger meal I find a great way to supplement your meal and add vitamins is to add in a banana or an apple and sometimes a glass of milk. Also it helps to drink a glass of water prior to each bar as that has the double bonus of the water itself and you also fill yourself up just a bit and don't run the risk of still feeling hungry after the bar!
I have the chocolate chip and brownie variety in my house and the package states the bars may contain trace amounts of milk. I don't remember looking at the carrot and white chocolate specifically, but all the bars I have seen have state in the warning that they may contain milk(yet milk is not listed on the ingredients). If the other bars state this as well, they would not be vegan.
The website is oddly contradictory. In the "facts" one questions is "Are the bars vegan friendly?" and the answer the website gives is... "Yes. There are no ingredients derived from animals in CLIF BARs." However, a question slightly lower reads "Do CLIF BARs contain any common food allergens such as dairy, nuts, wheat, etc?" and the answer is ... a redirection to a page listing possible allergies(2) Under dairy all the bars have the letters MC = May Contain Trace of.with the explanation of "The making of food is such that we cannot guarantee that trace amounts of this ingredient will never show up". Therefore if the bars potentially contain dairy, they are not vegan, it does not matter that the dairy in not an active ingredient.
Even if they do contain milk, don't stress. Everyone makes mistakes every once and awhile and eats something which contains dairy, eggs, etc. I'm nit sure why the company would think that a product that potentially contains milk is vegan is beyond me.

Most of the bars put out by Clif Bar (including Luna Bars) are vegan. You can also check their website to be certain.
