Going vegetarian tomorrow... help!?!

Question: Going vegetarian tomorrow... help!?
I have been a meat eater for all my life (23 years) and i want to try a vegetarian diet for 2-3 weeks. I want to lose 10 pounds, feel better, have more energy, sleep better etc.
I eat very little meat as it is but i feel the transition may be kinda rough.
Any help about food ideas, vitamins and minerals i should be taking, and any support would be greatly appreciated!
Help!

Hi, well, if you're having a Superbowl party today, you might want to whip up some of these snacks to share, if you feel like others at your party will be bringing meat dishes:

I went vegetarian slowly. I gave up red meats first, then the next week I gave up poultry and the 3rd week, I gave up fish. Then I had gotten all the meats out of my diet in a nice transition period. Many of my friends, though, have gone vegetarian overnight and said that's also a good method.

Good luck -- I love being vegetarian. I've never felt healthier in my whole life, truthfully. Plus, I love all the new foods I've tried.

Vegetarianism isn't a magic cure. If you consume more calories than you expend you will gain weight. It doesn't matter where the calories come from.

Assuming you are going to be a lacto-ova or lacto vegetarian, a multi-vitamin tablet will do just fine.

If you are going vegan, then you have to be careful to eat a combination of grains and beans that will provide complete protein. Complete protein should comprise about 10% of the diet.

I found that after long bicycle rides (200 to 300 km), I would feel much better if I didn't eat meat or too much fat. It's been pretty easy to stick with it over the 30+ years I've been doing it.

Take a vitamin B12 supplement.

Eat things you enjoy. Take a good multi-vitamin. :) It's pretty simple.
