What do I say when someone asks me why I'm vegetarian?!
Answers:
Why are you vegetarian - just think about it. Is it because you can't stand the taste of meat or the thought of eating animals. Or is it because you think vegetarian is a healthier life style, or because you don't like the way animals are treated when they are raised for food. When you figure out the reason or if you know it already, just state it simply to the person who asks. For example, I hate to think about how the animals raised for food are treated, so I choose not to eat meat and contribute to the issue.
Don't be overly rude, but don't kill yourself being polite. If a person is rude enough to ask why you are a vegetarian, I wouldn't be concerned about being rude to them.
Just tell them the good points of being a vegetarian and some bad points of being a meat eater. Like being a vegetarian means supporting the balance of beauty that animals make in this world. And you can say, without being rude, that meat eaters harm the balance of the earth. You could also say you don't like how animals are being treated and don't want to support the actions of animal slaughter. Just explain thoroughly and as best as you can. Hope I helped and I hope you can make the person(s) understand!!!!!
My friend is vegetarian so I understand...
When I see that the person doesn't really care or is kind of skeptical about vegetarians and stuff I just say, "reasons". I don't think they deserve a good answer.
But as far as why I'm a vegetarian is for the simple fact that I can't think of eating something that was once alive and that was brutally slaughtered and carried on my plate. So that is what I tell people, that I don't eat meat because I don't eat living things.
Tell them why you are vegetarian. Give them a very short reply summarizing why you are vegetarian (e.g. "It feels natural to me, and I care about animals" or something like that). When asked I usually reply "I was raised in a vegetarian family, and have always been a vegetarian since birth." If they ask more, then I would give them more details, otherwise I stop with the short reply. Good luck!
I ask them why they choose to eat foods that they know has made an innocent animal suffer and die for?
When they say it tastes good, I reply that its only a thug that willingly chooses to still eat this way, knowing a living creature is tortured and murdered just so you can get your sandwich- its the behaviour of a mentally challenged sadistic person.
Seriously.
If you feel like saying that, then mention that humans are the most intelligent species on earth. And as a human, you pick the path that does NOT support torturing and killing animals for a quick meal. Thugs do that. It is only humans that make this choice, no other animal has the intellect we do, so to keep on eating dead beasts when you don't need to, it's pretty barbaric.
"I'm personally uncomfortable with the way animals raised for meat are treated."
Or, if you want to make clear that you don't want to get into ethically-raised/organic/insert-buzzword… meat: "I'm uncomfortable with supporting animal slaughter for my consumption."
That should make your reasons clear without making it sound like you think the people you're currently with should also be vegetarian.
Going into details is off-putting. Keep it simple, "It's mostly for ethical reasons." If you are worried that the person might take offense or argue, just say, "I don't like meat."
just say coz u dont like meat.. u just dont! or that u don't like the way animals are treated in the world we live in today! don't worry ur not being rude.. i have many vegeterian friends who feel the same way:)
Say that you don't feel the need to inhumanely treat and kill animals for your own eating purposes.
Just say because you don't like how they are treated, and
that you just don't like it. period
Just say "Its because I dont like meat."
Thats what I used to say(:
