Why am I still so embarrassed?!

Question: Why am I still so embarrassed?
About two years into my vegetarianism, I stupidly thought that real sausage was fake vegetarian sausage and put it on my plate. My friend was like "I thought you were vegetarian" and I was absolutely MORTIFIED. I told my mom about it later and she told me how stupid I was.

But...is it normal to still be embarrassed by this? I was 20 then, and now I'm almost 27.

Answers:

It was an accident. don't worry about it no one died so forget it and move on.

Mistake or troll?
''about two years ago i thought a real sausage was fake vegetarian sausage.........''i was 20 then i'm almost now 27''

Thats a difference of 7 years not 2

**EDIT
ah i glitched, shows how one can misread things so easily :P i even double checked to make sure i read it right.

Well to answer the question then, people get embarassed all the time about trivial things. I still get embarassed about how when i was like 11 i had a girlfriend but we didn't kiss cause we were too afraid. That was pushing a decade ago & quite a small matter. You just get on with it & learn to accept it

LOL I get embarrassed over random things too. It's not a problem on it's own, it may be a symptom of low self esteem (particularly the way you remember the comment by your mother) but it could just be a random cringe memory. Maybe you've been really lucky and had an uneventful life, which is why other people will dismiss such a thing as unimportant. But we reference our shame to our own past, nobody else's. Anyway the answer to everything from our past is to focus on the present.

All the time we spend reliving past events we are missing out on what is occurring right now. When you find yourself drifting into this (or other unpleasant thoughts or memories) just look at the things around you and name each one eg blue shoes, white carpet, sleeping cat, computer screen etc until you aren't thinking about the other shite anymore. It kind of brings you out of the dreamworld of memories etc and into the here and now. This is a form of meditation and it really works, it helped me overcome panic attacks.

@ "Hi my name is" She said "about two years INTO my vegetarianism"

I doubt she's a troll. Sorry you feel so ashamed of that still. You shouldn't. It was a mistake, almost a decade again, and a tiny little mistake at that. Its no biggie. Im sure everybody else has totally forgotten it by now :)

It was seven years ago. You made a mistake. You didn't eat the sausage and you learned to always ask about food. Everyone makes mistakes once in a while, especially when they first go vegetarian or vegan. Honestly, its time to move on.

vegan :D

Everyone will experience an embarrassing moment or two. Some moments will stay with you longer than others. Its normal, why else do people have the saying "You learn from your experiences".

Vegetarianism is not a religion! You shouldn't be so anal about it.

No, it's not normal. That was long ago.

its not normal ...
u sud get over it
it ok im sure u will:)
