Should i be taking Protein?!


Question: Should i be taking Protein?
I'm interested in shedding a few pounds not a lot but also gaining muscle...I work out everyday and run/walk on an incline 2 miles a day...should I be taking protein to get bigger muscles or should I stick to what I'm doing...I'm mostly interested in losing the wait

It really depends on how much protein you're currently getting in your diet. Also, increasing protein does not necessarily help you lose weight.



If you want to build lean muscle it requires a mix of strength-resistance (ie weights) + cardio which allows the muscles & lungs to better utilise oxygen to produce and supply energy (ie being fit).

Unless you are doing daily heavy training protein shouldn't be needed, it is however a handy way to easily consume & digest after a workout. Therefore if you are going to take it get whey protein & only take half a scoop as i'm sure if you are eating meat, then your protein intake is above necessary requirements.

To lose weight requires both eating healthy & cardio, people overcomplicate it.

PS if you are young don't worry about losing weight & gaining muscles, that will come by itself with puberty that will show rapid changes from the ages of 11-15 & then slows.
