How to introduce someone to the horribleness that is animal cruelty?!
I'd like to send him a video or a link with pictures that can explain this better than I can, and SHOW him that it IS that bad. But I don't want to make him read a 20-page essay or anything of the sort (because he's not interested enough to dedicate that much time and effort to it), just something to introduce him to the concept and show him how painful and gruesome it is.
Could you please give me a good link that will do this?

Sit down with him, and watch Earthlings. If you have not yet watched this maybe watch it first, then show him. It's a very informative documentary about animal cruelty, the meat and dairy trade and much more. http://www.earthlings.com/
I could go into more detail, but if you watch it yourself, you'll see what I mean.

I agree that animal cruelty is a bad thing, but it has been proven years ago that plants also have a type of central nervous system and can show emotion when threatened or touched by certain people. So, I guess us animals aren't the only living things on this planet that can show emotion and have feelings, either good or bad. Care to take a look? AOL.
You really can't because this is just your opinion. What you call cruelty others call nature. Animals die to feed other animals. Its nature, and we are also animals. There are videos of police abusing prisoners, does that mean all police abuse prisoners? No it doesn't. So why do you think all farms are like the ones in those videos?
And kiyog are you really going to compare slavery to people eating food? That is Absolutely ridiculous.
You don't want a boyfriend, you want a slave or a pet.. someone who says yes to you every time and thinks the way you do, eats what you want.. something to brag to friends that "hey look I converted him!!" Ironic isn't it...
I would ask you to watch slave- farmers working in the fields, some as young as 6 years old, physically abused, sexually abused, underpaid, denied basic services such as decent housing, health care and even water/food. Then go eat your "cruelty free" foods.
If he is respectful of your choice, you should be respectful of his.
How would you like it if he forced ( I mean "introduced" ) you to go hunting, and made you shoot and gut a deer?
As long as he respects your lifestyle choice, why does he have to understand it?
Take what you can get; if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
He doesn't believe it's bad b/c people have been hunting since the dawn of civilization and animals are bred to eat. You shouldn't try to change anyone & force your beliefs on them.
Tell him to watch the documentary "Earthlings". Its on youtube, the whole thing. It turned me vegetarian.
Oh, come on guys. Imagine if everyone that was anti-slavery just respected other peoples' ideas and kept their mouths shut and let slavery stick around. Animal cruelty is a problem and people should know more about it. You could watch a video on it with him, there are so many online. It's kinda hard to nonchalantly say something about it in everyday conversation, so you would probably have to just show him some stuff online about it.
So DH, factory farmed animals aren't being treated as slaves? They are being used and don't get anything out of working and are treated terribly. Slavery is defined as "the state of being under the control of another person." Just because it's an animal that we can't understand doesn't change the fact that it's wrong.
This is a perfect video that goes through a lot in a short time (about 9 minutes) It is very powerful and very well done and doesn't just talk about one issue:

This is honestly the best intro to animal suffering and animal rights and ending property status I have seen.

@ Deer Hunter: human slavery isn't really all that different than what meat industries do to animals. They are forced to live a horrific life just so we can be satisfied. They have virtually no free will and are treated as objects. We take and take and kill them when we're finished. Same way human slaves were treated.
