i love them too! I am a chef and i like to make a hot and sour moroccan type broth with them... you can use any vegetables you like, but i always stick to using spring/salad onions, hot vegetable stock, chopped tin tomatoes, fresh and dried chilli and a squeeze of lemon juice as my essential ingredients for the broth. Failing that how about once they are cooked, to put in a blender with lemon juice and garlic to make a tasty houmous dip? :)
I used to have SO many in my cabinet... I just ate them plain, or mixed them with black beans (or kindney), maybe a salad... raw vegan taco, now a days. ;) (All the beans in there are like a crunch-shell buritto... pretty good!)
Hummus is really good, and it's made from garbanzo beans (also known as chickpeas). So is falafel. hey are also good in Indian food, like Chana Masala. I've had them in minestrone soup, too.
Heck yes! I love them! I think I like them best baked and dried (a snack I get from a nearby Middle Eastern store), fresh on salads, and made into hummus!
Chick peas are my... second favorite (after navy beans...mmmm). I put mine in salads, and make them into hummus and falafel.
I know them as Chick Peas - great in curries and salads.
