"Aspartame" is the word you're looking for. It's one of many chemical additives used in food. It's used as a sweetener, usually in conjunction with Acesulfame. You will find it in diet drinks such as Coke Zero, Pepsi Max, Tab, and others. It's also in a lot of other sugar free or "diet" type foods like chewing gum and sweets. Aspartame is not in plain bottled or tap water, but it is likely to be in flavoured water, especially if the product is advertised to be low calorie. Always check the labels on things you buy, that's something you should always do, regardless of whether you suspect a product has Aspartame in it.

Aspartame is a dangerous chemical. It's a carcinogen (meaning it can cause or encourage cancer) and can cause immediate symptoms along the lines of headaches, muscle aches, fatigue, disorientation, and even seizures. One of the problems with Aspartame is that it's generally found in frequently consumed, addictive products. Aspartame should be avoided entirely, or as much as possible.

I think "aspartame" is what you mean. :)
It's in diet sodas, some flavored waters, diet teas, and I even found it in my pickled ginger. DD:<<
It's really unhealthy, and it turns into formaldehyde in your body when you drink/ingest it. Avoid at all costs.

It is usually in diet drinks and sugar free products.

aspartame is in diet drinks and sweet diet foods, like gum and diet pancake syrup.
