Calories are calories, regardless of their source. It can actually be very easy for a vegetarian to consume an unhealthy and junk-food laden diet if they replace lean cuts of meat with less healthy fats and carbohydrates, like potato chips or fries.

Math is math. Calories in less than calories out for weight loss, and around the same for weight maintenance. Doesn't matter where the calories come from.

A vegetarian diet is not inherently a healthy one ;). It just does't have animal products in it.

I don't really know what you're asking.

Veganism:
can provide adequate nutrition, and so gaining muscle and height is no problem

it can also provide adequate (or too much) calories, so being a fat vegan is far from impossible. (I'm an obese vegan of five years.)

There are professional vegetarian and vegan bodybuilders as well as many other sports. It's not about whether you eat meat and/or veg. It's about carbs, fat and protein all of which are consumed regardless of your dietary preferences.

Rob Bigwood is pretty muscular. Bill Pearl wasn't bad, either. Remember that a lot of veg*n athletes do "natural" bodybuilding and won't grow the scary head-sized steroid biceps.

Prince Fielder 5'11" 285 lbs

1st baseman & power hitter for the Milwaukee Brewers.

If vegetarians replace animal proteins with simple carbs then they will get fat.

of course there is.
Meat isn't the only thing that can make you put on weight you know!
