Idaho is known for their russet potatoes, but russets are grown many places

Technically speaking, an Idaho potato is any potato grown in the American state of Idaho, but one variety, the Russet Burbank, has come to be closely associated with Idaho.

A variety of the Russet Burbank potato is also grown in both Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick Canada. These two regions comprise the majority of Eastern Canada's potato production.

To call them Idaho potatoes they have to be grown in Idaho. Just like (Vidalia) Onions can only be called so if they are grown in a Certain area. If this same onion is grown out of that area is is against the law to call it a (Vidalia) Onion. I believe then they just call them sweet onions.

yes, you get the potatoes to go to seed and plant them in your yard wherever that might be, and they will grow. provided the soil is conducive to growing any potatoes at all.idaho is just a type of potato as is russet

Potatos grow a lot of places but if they are grown in Ohio they are Ohio potatos...are you thinking about russett (sc) potatos

Potatoes grow lots of places. But if it isn't grown in Idaho it isn't an Idaho potato.

Only potatoes grown in Idaho can be called Idaho potatoes

Nope, they are only grown in Idaho.
