Im lacto-vegeterian and theyre giving me a rough time?!

Question: Im lacto-vegeterian and theyre giving me a rough time?
Okayy, so I barely turned lacto vegeterian about a week ago and a few days ago meaning no meat, eggs or fish for me, and now my parents are trying to make me eat eggs and fish, I said that they choose what they want and ill eat what I want, but its really getting annoying? And especially my dad I ask for something like a chili and he says "ohh you CANT eat chilis the guy got hurt getting them" and it freaking bugs me! My bros. Gf too she says " yeahh that's for her cause 'shes vegeterian'" but with a weird odd voice and it irritates me!! Any help in how I can handle this?:( cause I am not. Gonna start eating what they want me to eat just because they want me too, when I don't believe its Right to slaughter animals any help plz?

Tell them you'll starve yourself if they make you eat that stuff. Do you have a job? You might need to make money to by the stuff you need for vegetarianism. Try to cook yourself something too. Otherwise, tell them that they need to accept your new lifestyle, whether they like it or not.

Fish is a dead animal, so vegetarians don't eat that either.

Don't let it bother you. I have dealt with that my whole life. I'm a vegan. Research it and come up with good comebacks. Tell them that they are being disrespectful to your beliefs. And tell them to stop making fun of/ patronizing/ belittling you. It's not fair to you at all. If they don't stop doing that, start talk about how meat is made whenever your with them(esp when they eat meat) and freak them out and be annoying about it, and say you will stop if they will stop. :)

I would say, as long as you are never making any comments on their food choices, i believe that they (eventually) will stop making comments about yours.
Also, I think its important not to try to argue or rationalize when a comment is made like that a guy got hurt picking the beans or whatever. Just leave his stupid comment hanging in the air, and maybe he will hear how it sounds.

The difference between vegans and vegetarians is dairy, as you may already know. Here is a 3-part article on milk. Hope it helps:

This is your choice, not theirs. You decide what you eat, not them. Stand up for your beliefs! Stick to it and soon you'll br used to it and it'll be really easy to turn down those foods you're trying to avoid.
No matter what they say, just do what you feel is right. You're parents are acting likr toddlers. Judging somebody on what they eat is pretty pathetic.

your parents are ok dont deal with them they will accept you.

for the others, simply when they make fun of you, strike them down fiercely with a hard object, such as a chair, baseball bat or whatever is around! or you could just beat them with your fist while screaming!

good luck!

Grow up about it. Let THEM be the infantile idiots they are.

It takes a big person to walk alone through fire, and that is what you are doing.
Shame on them, and you should thank them for giving you this opportunity to be the bigger person.

You make an excellent point, im vegetarian trying to go vegan and believe me i know how you feel, but you gotta put your foot down and tell them why , lecture them if you have to cuz you make a good point , who should make you eat something that has been visiously slaughtered and even though its dead it doesnt mean that it didnt hurt the whole time it was dying, you should tell them something like that and im sure you have. Also try bringing home your own ingredients or make something yummy thats vegetarian for yourself, i have to do this all the time, and the portion size doesnt even have to be all big since its just you who's eating it. Vegetarian's bad at all, infact we are a very peaceful people trying to save the lives of living and breathing things, what have we done that was so wrong.

That happened to me too, but don't worry, it doesn't last forever.

Do some research and show them that you are working hard to get your protein, iron and vitamin b12 from other places.

Yes it's annoying, but they honestly want you to be healthy, and it might be making them uncomfortable to have to think where meat comes from. People don't want to think about the morality of their food.

Don't give up- if you do it right, being vegetarian can be a really great thing.

Your parents love you, they care for you, that's why they are trying to get you to eat healthy foods like fish and eggs. Do some research and educate yourself on the many health benefits of eating fish and eggs.

When you move out and pay your own medical bills, put your own roof over your head, and make your own food, THEN you can do whatever you want with your life.
