So Delicious Soy ice cream...?!

Question: So Delicious Soy ice cream...?
I recently bought a quart of their mocha fudge "ice creams" and its really good!! however, the downside was i couldn't stop myself from indulging. Im on a diet but i just gave in....and i couldn't stop at just one serving...i had several. I felt so guilty afterwards :( it saids it uses all organic ingredients, 130 cal per serving, 25 cal from fat, 0% saturated fat , 15g sugar and 12% dietary fiber. This all sounds reasonably good, but could ice cream really be "healthy"? Is it possible to gain weight in one day after eating a couple servings of this even if i eat healthy otherwise?

please help!!!

Soy generally is not a health food

Unprocessed, unrefined soy is a health food. Soybeans do have a lot of nutritional value to them and they contain complete protein. they are a good source of vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Copper, and a very good source of Protein, Folate and Manganese.

As long as you aren't eating a quart of soy ice cream every day, this instance of eating the entire quart probalby won't hurt you. Weight gain (or loss) is over a period of time, as 3,500 calories is a pound.

Did you eat out of the carton? That's a sure-fire way to overindulge.

This is a junk food. Probably not as bad as dairy, but it's still junk food. Junk food every so often isn't going to hurt. You'll probably bloat a little for a day or so if you only indulge once in a blue moon.

no u dont gain weight lol u just feel fat cuz i did that to and later i was bloated lol as long as u do exercise u will be fine

You need to look at the bigger picture, rather than worrying about indulging once in a while. If you are overall living a healthy life (eating nutritious foods, exercising regularly, managing stress) then your body will settle at a weight that is healthy for YOU!

Dieting is a surefire way to over indulge. If you are restricting your calories, your appetite will increase. Analogy: if you hold your breath for three minutes, you are going to gasp for air

Do not feel guilty. You ate because it tastes good. Next time you eat ice cream, slowly eat it. Notice how it tastes the first bite. Delicious? The next few bites? Probably less so. Our taste buds get used to tastes, so why not save the ice cream for later when it will be just as delicious as that first bite?

One indulgence will have no affect on your weight, it is patterns you should pay attention too.

Read "Health at Every Size" by Linda Bacon. Very good book!
